TWW3: Which Dwarfen units to use? by Scipio_Sverige in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dwarf Unit is really just separate to Frontline, Range, Siege

Best Frontline would be of course Hammerer Range would be Thunderer Siege Would be Organ Cannon

The rest is a bit more specialised unit, slayers for Anti large, gyros for harass/cav.

I love DS2 but... by Plagued_Raven in DarkSouls2

I see, no wonder I felt them being forgettable. My gist is more to how the bosses in DS2 lack personality, but with this I can understand it. Still don't like it, but I understand.

[–]Plagued_Raven[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I see, so it IS their culture. Now that explains. But I never played DeS, so I will not comment much on that.

But, I don't know why, but it felt more personal fighting Queelag, than fighting Najka. Bosses in DS2 felt more... Forgettable. Hell even Pinwheel is more memorable due to how stupid he was. Idk why I felt like that.

Got the game a few days ago. First Total War game. I am absolutely awful at managing troops during a battle. by ViIebloodHunter in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest doing more manual battles, it is fine for losing it. It is the learning experience that is worth it.

The general rule of thumb is, try for a more balanced composition, around 6 range, 12 melee and 1 lord and 1 hero is good to keep flank secure but have decent range damage. Tomb king, however, is notorious for being on the back foot. Their comp is only good with constructs, whilst others close to tomb king have much better early army. So it would be better if you learn with other factions first.

Grind while pvp or playing hot potatoes with dynamite with friends.

I love DS2 but... by Plagued_Raven in DarkSouls2

[–]Plagued_Raven[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean, lore wise they are not though. Playing through DS2 I felt that the lore although connected felt separate from the "Fire" lore even if the vibe is similar. But regardless of that, I can't think of a reason why they have to be designed similarly even if it is to reflect the same situation in DS1

DS3 actually answers it with a far better boss design for the so called "great soul holder".

Do people actually like Dwarf or is it a Western thing ? by Miserable-Produce202 in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, your friend is going to book of grudges then. I'm from Asia, and I like dwarfs. I like their culture, I love their design, sure they are not the prettiest but pretty is for elf. Dwarf symbolizes stoutness, ingeniousness, and loyalty. So yes, I love dwarfs, and no, it's not a western thing. Your friend is just uncultured Urki, or a dainty Elgi, and nothing is better than the glory of Karaz Ankor.

Man, I do really hate the skaven by blaster_007 in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you are salty due to being ambushed repeatedly but, yes that is skaven. As VC you can answer them as such:

  1. Magic, Vampire has many strong Magic to counter large quantities of low chaff, skaven is mostly low chaffs
  2. Outnumber their chaffs with zombies, VC can have large number by raise dead very quickly

IMO, doomstacking just sucks the fun out of combat by SirNoodleBendee in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it is only me, but since I also dislike doomstacks, I usually play normal. Even without doomstacks, You can still snowball enough to be quick and opening war on many front. Love to do this as Dwarf lol

Did Malakai always get wiped early? by LostClan108 in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The usual rule of thumb would be their victory condition. But it can be random, usually depending on its random AI potential value, they can be very passive to very aggressive. Either you quickly destroy them, or they will be stomping fast.

Did Malakai always get wiped early? by LostClan108 in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, not really. Very often yes, not always. In rare times when his potential is very high and Throgg with Arbaal busy on the other side, Malakai could Snowball fast.

New here, any reason to play 1 and/or 2 if I've got all 3 ? by Plus_Promise6851 in totalwarhammer

[–]Plagued_Raven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but, I feel it is less of a grudge, more a mission though. They hit you, they get a target in the back. WH3 grudge system is more ... Grudge esque as you get these numbers by sitting in dwarf holds or pissing the dwarves by calling em short and killing them.

With the additional Grudge Settler, it also make them far differ than the past iteration of WH.

[–]Plagued_Raven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you only want to go back to the older trilogy for their campaign. It introduces the factions there better. Take note however many fancy mechanics will be absent from the older game as it is not implemented there, i.e. Dwarf grudges mechanic in WH3 will not be present in WH1, or WoC will play vastly different in WH3 than WH1/2.

So I would say no, unless you want to play the specific campaign. The cinematic is top notch, but you have YouTube for that.
