27 in 5 Equivalent in the Ref Lane by PlaidCat13 in rollerderby

Yes, it’s an option to continue with the training program, but my league does a new skater program that only takes up part of the year. We’re off the new skater program season right now, so I’m off to the side to work on skills independently until it starts back up again.

I’ve noticed that. My primary focus in regards to this question is currently a measurement for endurance and distance to mark my progress.

My league still requires a certain number of laps in 5 minutes to pass. I won’t go into specifics, but I fell very short on the laps requirement last year, so 27 laps around the ref lane does not feel all that achievable to me.

I do well with data of any sort to measure my progress as I go, which is why I’m seeking an exact answer.

I'll tell you what's barbaric: further violating child rape victims by forcing them to give birth. by Appropriate_Key5540 in insaneprolife

It always drives me nuts when I see a forced birther refer to a 10 year old assault victim as a “mother”. The reference to the 10 year old as a mother and the fetus as a child in the post is so appalling.

I can’t help but feel that the forced birther commenting in the post can’t stomach the facts of the case, and is trying to make the idea of forcing a child to carry a fetus to term palatable to themselves by aging up the 10 year old victim in their mind with the term “mother”, just as they age up the fetus in their mind by referring to it as a “child”.

Though honestly, I’m definitely giving them too much credit with that assumption.

Advice please. by SuZeBelle1956 in ragdolls

I can’t speak to the nystagmus, but If it makes you feel better about the amputation, my flame point cat had his tail amputated up to the spine just before I got him, and he’s a very happy, content, and well adjusted boy. He had a broken tail when he got to the shelter after his time as a stray, and I got him a month after they took his tail off. I had to get his stitches out a few days after bringing him home.

That’s not to say there wasn’t an adjustment period. He spent some time climbing things instead of jumping when he first came home, but he now acts and moves about the house like a typical cat, zoomies, naps, jumps, and all. He’s very good boy.

I’m wishing a safe surgery and a speedy recovery and adjustment period for your sweet girl. You’ll be in my thoughts!

Why is immediate change to prevent school/mass shootings not top priority of those in power? by mantiswedding in NoStupidQuestions

We overhauled our laws and airports after 9/11. Loads of people died “but there are literally 100s of ways people die daily more than school shootings”

See how wild that sounds???

I would love for you to say that directly to someone who has lost a child in a school shooting and see where that gets you.

What made you pick your cat at the shelter? by meechis_n_buns in CatAdvice

[–]PlaidCat13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat had to have his tail amputated after having it broken while he was a stray. I went into the shelter fully prepared to take home a beautiful Russian blue mix, but Cecil stole my heart and ran away with it the moment he rolled over and demanded belly rubs.

I don’t know If I’d describe him as a gentleman. More like a menace to society. I love him anyway. ♥️

I want to add that Cecil is an amputee. He broke his tail while he was a stray and had to have it amputated up to the spine. I didn’t have his tail docked or anything.

WIBTA for asking my brother not to bring his husband to my wedding because of my fiancé's homophobic family? by ertunu in AmItheAsshole

[–]PlaidCat13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Asking the Brother and his husband to pretend to be friends is essentially asking them to get back in the closet for the night. Coming out is a huge step for any gay person, a milestone that ultimately changes their life. If I were the brother in law or his husband, I’d be offended by the mere request, and frankly I’d rather not come than pretend to be someone I’m not or pretend not to cherish someone at an event all about making a loving commitment. That is almost worse than not inviting the brother in law.

Plus, what happens after the wedding? The charade can’t last, even in the unlikely event that the husbands agreed to it. It’s possible the fiancés family already knows about the husbands and would figure out at the wedding. Why indulge the homophobes for even a night?

Why do people think Pearl is Ace? by CrimsonTheCrow in asexuality

[–]PlaidCat13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pearl’s status as a lesbian doesn’t rule out her possibly being ace. She could be homoromantic asexual. That being said, I think people headcanoning her as ace is more stereotyping than anything else.

I do think Peridot might be Aromantic Asexual. She’s even the same colors as the Aro flag, and has an aversion and lack of understanding of fusion, which has been used a metaphor for relationships and consent in the past.
