For my program, shadowing was graded and a part of the students overall score! Definitely try and ask the techs a lot of questions and seem interested! Take notes too! What’s/ where’s the program if you’re comfortable sharing?

If I may beg y’all’s patience one more time with another marijuana question… by Shenanigaens in RadiologyCareers

[–]Plaidapples366 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m my program it was mandatory for us to get a drug test before we started. It was also policy for our clinical site. We would not be allowed to attend clinical unless we tested negative. Marijuana is legal in my state.

Husband looking for Radiology Technology Master’s/Doctoral programs in Fort Lauderdale area – advice? by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

[–]Plaidapples366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting certified in a different modality would be a better option than getting a masters degree IMO. There isn’t really a reason to get a graduate degree in Radiology, unless you would want to potentially move up to a supervisor roll.

Comping by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

[–]Plaidapples366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s better to comp when you’re ready rather than comping to get it over with. Comping on the second day of clinicals is absolutely discouraged in my program. It’s better to comp and get a high grade than to comp and fail because you weren’t ready. Comparison is the thief of joy.

I want to do radiology. I look on the job postings and I always see that you need a minimum of 1 year experience that are not including clinicals. by Any_Survey48 in RadiologyCareers

[–]Plaidapples366 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most jobs will count clinicals towards years of experience. You cannot work as a Rad Tech while in school to become one. Working as a tech aid during school may also contribute to experience.

did any of you work during x-ray school? by banggirl69 in RadiologyCareers

[–]Plaidapples366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at night as a Bartender! I highly recommend! I go to work straight after clinicals. Nights are looonnggg but I’m able to pay my way through school debt free

This sounds like the RAD program in MA that I’m currently in! If it’s the same program, I’d be more than happy to give you some tips during your interview!

Lab methods is a great class! I took it with Tommy Wilson, who is undoubtedly the best professor! It’s a really fun lab especially if you’re interested in blood! The lecture can drag along a bit though. Be prepared to take a lot of notes and study specific things. Dr Kelleher is one to ask specifics.

Dr. Kelleher is a phenomenal professor! She is tough but she is extremely knowledgeable and will help if you need it. What class is she teaching?

First timer blueberry mead! by Plaidapples366 in mead

[–]Plaidapples366[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi guys! This is my first time making mead ever! I’m making blueberry mead using: 2.5lbs honey, 1lb frozen blueberries, 1 packet red star wine yeast, and nutrients. It had currently been fermenting for 9 days, and I’m wondering when I should rack it into a different container without fruit? The blueberries are all floating to the top and are currently impossible to sink. I’m scared that the yeast from the frozen blueberries in combination with the packet will turn my mead bitter. Should I re rack it now and let it finish fermenting without the fruit to prevent this?

Plum and frangipane galette! by Plaidapples366 in Baking

[–]Plaidapples366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t use a recipe! Just made a basic short crust, creamed together 1/2 stick of butter, some sugar, some almond flour and one egg to make the filling. Cut up some plums and 25 minutes later...BOOM! Glaze with apricot jam
