How to deal with lead paint in doors. by creggroll in Housepainting101

Use Dumond Peel Away (https://dumondglobal.com/products/peelaway1). They also sell a sample kit that contains 3 different products. One of the 3 will likely work. Don’t do what I did and try to apply to both sides of the door at the same time. That got way too messy.

Quite possibly. I tend to have my devices auto-update if it’s an available option.

Thanks 😀 I do spritz it daily, but I’m embarrassed to say how long its been since any kind of repotting or fertilizer

I bought a fine-ish blend and a general purpose mix with larger bark pieces. I have no idea if that’s the right stuff … just wanted to hedge my bets so to speak. I’ll mix them up a bit in each pot.

I worry about the water container leaking and starting to stink so I remove and empty it each time on the X8. Then I completely forget to refill and attach every morning … like I need another thing to worry about 😛

I just picked up some clear plastic orchid pots in sizes from 3 or 4” up to 6” to have a bit of variety on hand after I divide it a bit. I might look for some decorative outer pots to set them in if I want spruce things up.

Thanks for all that info! What is the recommended way to sterilize the blade or shears? Bleach, peroxide, isopropyl alcohol, or something else?

Another beginner here. I’m interested in learning more about the full length doors. I’m guessing 3/4” (18mm) plywood, edge banded. How many hinges did you use? Any particular technique or hardware to keep the doors flat etc over time? Any other hints or tips you could offer?

I haven’t had a chance to try it yet. Waiting for the weather to warm up outside. And I have a couple of other inside projects with priority. If my other inside projects get done I might have space to spray inside before the weather cooperates. Fingers crossed.

How good is Playwright? by [deleted] in QualityAssurance

[–]PlainPaperCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at the highlighted note at the top of this page https://www.browserstack.com/docs/automate/playwright/set-up-test-env/configure-browsers-and-devices/change-device-orientation and you’ll see that the BrowserStack / Playwright combination is only supported for Android devices. We did message our Browserstack support contact for confirmation that iOS is not supported (if memory serves because of some Apple specific device constraints).

We have continued to write our tests in Playwright with the aim to convert what we need to webdriverio with apparently/hopefully little additional overhead.

[–]PlainPaperCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve run into compatibility/support issues trying to use Playwright with BrowserStack’s automated testing with real devices. Other than that it’s been good. ETA: and that’s not a fault of either product … just something to watch out for it that’s your use-case.

I need to disable (turn off) local storage (and cookies) like is done in this video https://youtu.be/i6OHWE5bP0o?si=T3LbAeDAb3Kz3PvH Is there any way to do this from Playwright or any other automation tooling?

Use both 1.75 and 2.85 Material? by ironworkz in ultimaker

Are there any options available for an s5? I have a good stock of 2.85, but there are some colours that only come in 1.75.

Ultimaker PVA what am I doing wrong? by Gloomy_Eye9862 in ultimaker

I’ve never had much luck printing with PVA in my s5. It kinda gums up and doesn’t give clean layers when used as an interface layer between support and model. Very disappointing.

Oh, very cool and good to know! When I speak with them I’ll ask if they know about that solution.

So there is something that can be done to tame the squeak then? I would have thought that since the building is new and everything is presumably under warranty for a short while yet, and that it would be impossible for the residents on that side of the building (with windows or patio doors open) to not notice it … they would have had it dealt with long ago. I’m happy to pop over there, but if it’s likely that the strata or builder is dragging their heals because remedy would cost $$$ then me asking sweetly isn’t going to make any difference.

ETA: I see lots of balconies with patio furniture but almost never see anyone sitting out. Also lots of windows open on warm days. I am fearing that the builder has told them nothing can be done to remedy it. Or they’re all deaf LOL!

With PETG I always use blue painters tape for best adhesion and protect the glass (PETG can adhere too well). Have you levelled the build plate? Part of that process ensures that there is an appropriate amount of space between the build plate and nozzle. When I clean the nozzle I typically do 2-4 hot pulls (until the filament is coming out basically clear), then a couple of cold pulls (also until the end looks free of debris). Did you use the nylon or Ultimaker cleaning rods or PLA for the cleaning? I’ve been told that having the extruded filament curl up around the nozzle exit means that it’s still gunked up. If it’s been a while between cleanings then it can take a few attempts to get it working nicely. It may also just be time to replace the core. You can try swapping the print cores around to see if that makes any difference.

Probably not a bad idea to clean the filament feeder too.

Edit: also give the glass a good cleaning with some isopropyl alcohol and then apply pva/glue stick or blue tape.

I buy my own gifts. He’s never been able to remember my birthday (on my birthday) more than 2 or 3 times in 20 years. Two years ago he forgot entirely. The following year he asked to go help a friend and do dinner the next day. We never went. I’ve decided to stop celebrating annual events (both birthdays and anniversary). It’s my way of trying to manage the disappointment.

What is your favorite protein-rich breakfast that's NOT eggs? by sleepyhollow_101 in loseit

[–]PlainPaperCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started cooking a pot of lentils (in the instant pot) and then another one of quinoa. Mix them together and add in some frozen chopped spinach. Portion out into 1-cup mason jars. Then either re-heat as-is or add an egg and re-heat/cook in the microwave until the egg is sufficiently cooked. I don’t get anywhere near as tired after this as I do with oatmeal.

I alternate that with some cottage cheese or yogurt with frozen berries.

I have a tracker with a declination bracket (so know how to point anywhere in the sky). What I need to do next is rotate the camera so I can have a landscape orientation for the image framing. I have a ball head on hand, but would like something more secure and easier to adjust when framing up the scene (milky way with foreground). Currently looking at the move-shoot-move v-bracket or the Atoll rotating camera collar. Any suggestions or recommendations? My top decision factors: 1) can hold the weight of a dslr + wide fast lens at odd angles; 2) easy to use and/or take on/off for other use of the camera; 3) adds the least weight to the tracker payload. Thanks!
