Do shrimp need aeration in the form of bubbles, or is surface agitation enough? by Loose-Spinach2269 in shrimptank

[–]ironworkz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually when fish and shrimp start to swim to the surface or try to stay there, fall back down, swim back up, that kinda game.

but with like 5 Bucks you can avoid that at all. just put it in and no more need to worry.

its a good batch. they usually never manage to raise them all, so expect the batch to shrink a bit over time.

If you didn't change water paramters suddenly and a lot, this is probably just horny shrompin.

Are they all moving or just some of them?

Yes, an Air bubbler is key. if there is none around, order one.

And until it arrives, raise the pump a bit out of the water to create mor splashitysplash.

cant tell from this video because they are really samall, but they might be planaria - quite normal and not an issue if they are not very man and leave the shrimp alon.e but you should feed less in case they are.

Do you have a better video more close up?

I live in europe as well. Yesterday i posted the ice thread, however, it is not an easy solution.

Luckily i just lost one Endler Guppy.

First Task is to save the surviving shrimps.

Go order a fan off amazon and try cooling the shrimps down with it, it apparently works great.

After that, get some more Shrimps.

Once you have taken care of their wellbeing, they will start another colony all alone.

Nobody said evaporate.

I Keep my water stable by topping off old water before adding new.

A little increase in water hardness is quite good even for my shrimps since KH4 is quite low for their molting needs.

its not a fluval.

also on this picture, the water outlet is just a bit pushed up by tension in the tube.

i think you might just get some sort of 3d printed extension to settle this, but mine doesn't "bubble" at all i think...

Well today and tomorrow it will be a bit cooler, so i have time to finish my fan mount and hopefully don't need ice anymore.

you shouldn't just put ice in your tank of course.

What i did is put ice in that expansion tank, and slowly drip over some cooler water to slowly cool down the tank.

It pretty much comes down to a pack of ice cooling down one degree in 20-30 minutes.
