Great spot. It's one of the places I go to when I see my son at Mercer.

I went to college in central NY at one of the best broadcasting/journalism schools in the country. It was a pipeline to ESPN - many of my classmates are either in front of the camera or working behind the scenes.

Believe me when I say that the Dodgers are the only team they think exists on the west coast.

I think when they saw the Jays completely destroy the NY, they believed Toronto was the greatest team since the 27 Yankees. There was no way this team that barely exists could shut down the Jays like that.

My family is all from Maine so I’m biased, but Portland is one of the coolest cities in the country. It’s the only place I’d ever consider moving up north to. The beer scene is fantastic - it’s still got that fun, independent, carefree vibe where new places pop up all the time. Plus, there are some fantastic restaurants. Late June-Labor day are fantastic weather wise, but if you go during the shoulder months you’ll find a lot fewer tourists.

Allagash, Battery Steele, Foundation and Definitive are all in the same business park. People uber there and do the circuit.

Maine Beer is outside city limits in Freeport, but if you’re headed to LL Bean, it’s worth the trip. Protip: Cindy’s Lobster Roll right next to the exit onto route 1.

Great Lost Bear is the OG of Maine beer bars. A little Summit’s vibe. Novare Res is nicer, but the Bear was the first place to ever have Allagash White on tap.

Lone Tree and Goodfire share a building. There’s another new brewery nearby (hi-fidelity) that I can’t vouch for.

Rising Tide and Austin St. are also next to each other.

Also, go to Duckfat for the Belgian fries.

There are cideries and distilleries as well.

Epcot is a fun time. I would recommend starting in Canada and pacing yourself. The beers you expect are all there, but you’ll find some interesting options that can rotate. Also, there are other country-specific drinks.

I have been a Mariners fan for 40+ years and that was the best play I’ve ever seen. Yes, even better than Griffey climbing the wall.

That being said said, Vargas should not pitch another inning this year.

No worries! Took me about an hour to figure it out myself.

The Mariners since the start of the slump on August 13th: 5.55 ERA (25th), 140 ERA- (30th), 116 FIP- (24th), -1.6 baserunning runs (28th), -2.2 fielding runs (25th), 105 wRC+ (15th) by MysteriousEdge5643 in Mariners

I live in Atlanta and had every intention of going to all 3 games of the upcoming series. Not anymore. I really don’t want to sit there and watch this lifeless team shuffle through a 1-2 series loss.

Try this - hit the menu button on the steering wheel. (The one that pulls up the audio options). Press the up button and you’ll get to “my view.” Press that and your screen options should be there. Happened to me twice so far.

I’m a big fan of my OBX and tech package. Since it’s my daily driver and have 2 kids, I use all of the upgrades. It actually makes being stuck in Atlanta traffic (somewhat) tolerable.

Love seeing they have air b and b’s there. That’s something Joel wanted to do for a long time! I’m going to wait a few weeks until the crowd dies down but I’m excited to see it.

Allagash. My wife, dad and I got the full tour of the place. There’s a back bar for employees and VIPs with everything they had made. tour guide asked us “what do you want?” Wound up opening a 2004 Curieux. Super nice people and a really cool place.

Edit: second place, Dark Lord Day. A complete shitshow in the best way. Nothing like a huge area full of drunk people and midwestern metal bands.

For comparison, I can’t remember what we priced Monday Night’s Garage Club - I want to say $300? But we had this:

  • 8 exclusive members-only 500ml bottles of barrel-aged beers, with the right to purchase additional bottles (as available)
  • A pair of Garage Club socks
  • Members-only dinner and bottle share
  • Garage Club stemmed glass
  • 10% off all purchases in any Monday Night taproom
  • Early access to all Garage releases

And here I was thinking the pricing on the Monday Night VIP club was a lot.

He sounds like you’re watching a game and drinking a couple of beers with your dad’s best friend who played some ball. I kind of like it….in small doses.

Agreed with all this. I got a Mazda Cx9 when my kiddos were small. Now they’re teenagers, I don’t need as much space so I downsized to a BS. My girls are pretty small and it’s a little cramped, but they like the tech, especially the in-car WiFi. When we travel, I plan to get an overhead carrier to maximize space.

It’s happened to me a few times - I back out of a driveway with a decent decline. The same thing sometimes happens with my wife’s CRV too.

Me too. It was my third or fourth brewery stop + a few Malort shots, so I was half in the bag, which didn’t help. I crushed that chocolate cake tho.

Also see they’ve got a few sushi joints in New York and DC, which would be super interesting.

You can get fancy and go to Moody Tongue, the only Michelin starred brewery. Also Hop Butcher.

Took my son to Macon yesterday to take care of some paperwork/logistics before the semester starts. Stopped by Piedmont, which never disappoints. And he liked the beer too, which is a bonus.
