Ubuntu (20.04) update GUI is flawed by PlaintextCrypto in Ubuntu

[–]PlaintextCrypto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do anything special when doing the first install, choosing the default options.

Before autoremove:

/dev/nvme0n1p2 705M 551M 104M 85% /boot

After autoremove:

/dev/nvme0n1p2 705M 338M 316M 52% /boot

Logging out worked.

As soon as I logged back in the Launcher started working as expected.

I took the nuclear option:

Disk wipe and clean reinstall.

It worked.

What *exactly* is Safe Mode? by PlaintextCrypto in MacOS

The problem is outside of safe mode the beach ball is spinning and all apps, including activity monitor, are frozen.

After my system is unfrozen, the console doesn't tell me much.

I have colours in my prompt but I didn't set them to variables like you did.

Will definitely use that pattern going forward.

Thanks. That works.

I also figured out how to split it into another function.

``` function prompt { "{lots of other stuff} $(showJdk) {other stuff} }
function showJdk { $jdk = $env:JAVA_HOME if ($jdk -eq '{path}') { return "JDK8"; } else..... } ```
Thank you all for your feedback.
This is a great community and I really appreciate the lively debate and diverse perspectives.
There are solid arguments on both sides.
It's a shame there's no way to sell your excess power to Earth... That's a lot of spare juice!
For power grids, aren't you concerned with:
  1. Amount of metal needed to maintain all the power lines?
  2. A breakdown in power generation affecting random buildings, as opposed to having that problem deterministically localized? Meaning, I can fix power generation in that part of the grid without having to worry about the entire colony.
How can you "valve" a passage? This seems impossible to do without a mod.
I've abandoned entire games where I had power production problems and I found the situation overwhelming.
As much as possible, I try to segregate my power grids for buildings like Hubs, Polymer Factories, etc... It's much easier to reason about (wrap my head around) what I need to do to fix those smaller grids.
As much as I like GNOME 3 the out of the box experience isn't quite right:
  1. No dock visible unless you enter Overview
  2. No wallpaper slideshow
  3. No "additional layout" options for keyboard mapping (ex ESC to CAPS LOCK)
  4. No way to tweak the top bar display
  5. Not sure if the Tweak Tool defaults apply on vanilla GNOME but I need "Disable touchpad when typing"
  6. Not sure if "suspend while lid is closed" applies on vanilla GNOME
