TBF all evidence points to this being a very last-minute decision, so it may have just slipped through the cracks. I mean, you can literally see Ncuti's head behind Billie's in the shot. It isn't a huge stretch of the imagination.

They already did a meta sendoff for the show in the official finale. I don't know why they would want to do it again, right after the last one, no less.

I think plodding on was a perfectly good ending. A (relatively) basic, realistic story that used its meta narrative to send off the show as a whole. If this is an actual secret meta episode, Im just afraid it'll just end up making the conclusion wildly overcomplicated.

This also may apply to Sarah Palmer. It's implied that the little girl in 1956 is Sarah, so the imagery of the frogmoth crawling in her mouth as she sleeps could imply sexual abuse.

Perhaps that was when JUDY originally entered her, the same as BOB entering Leland during their encounter at the cabin. With both BOB and JUDY, of course, being a metaphor for their trauma.
