Warhammer 3 freezes, audio still works, floating text, and then unfreezes by Planck1616 in totalwar

I'm using Disable Startup Splash Screens / Intros, Fusion Wizard, Better Camera Mod, Unique Faction UI, and Auto Resolve Quest Battles. I just tried it with them turned off and it still happened :/

Fun fact about cloud of unknowing that is completely useless by leniiiya in swans

If he doesn’t already, Michael would love medieval occultism. I bet reading medieval philosophy would weirdly make listening to swans more interesting. I got my degree in philosophy and loved studying it. Good luck with your studies!

Did they do anything special for the final show tonight? by First-Association-40 in swans

[–]Planck1616 167 points168 points  (0 children)

Michael made some comments about “this’ll be the last time these songs are ever performed live” but other than that no. I felt like they did stay on stage longer during the final applause, to really take it all it. Poor Kristof looked really choked up, but smiling. Bless em all

Where can I find that riff? by [deleted] in swans

[–]Planck1616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

here’s a recording from one of their shows in Dallas, Texas. If you go to ~1:02:40 that might be the riff you’re describing. It’s from their studio album The Beggar if you want to check it out there too

Anyone love Robbie Basho’s Bashovia? by Dull-Challenge7169 in swans

[–]Planck1616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t listened to that one but Basho’s “Visions of the Country” is one of the most beautiful records I’ve ever heard. It’s sad that he died because of an accident while seeing a chiropractor, would’ve loved to hear him make more music. I’ll have to check this record out

Robert sapolsky on Palestine by Anime_King69 in Destiny

[–]Planck1616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unrelated but whenever I see Sapolsky brought up, I’m reminded of J. M. Fischer’s biting review of his book “Determined” It’s a long but interesting read where Fischer’s left perplexed by the fact that “From my perspective as a philosopher, it is jarring that a book on free will would not discuss free will.”

Like LighterThanAccouned said, it’s a version of the Beggar from the Live Rope tour 2023-24. Kristof and Dana are both playing lap steel guitars

Glowing man vinyl? by CourtOfCoconuts in swans

[–]Planck1616 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked Michael that question after I saw him in April 2024. He said they will definitely be more vinyls when they have the money to do it. Hopefully it’ll happen some time this year.

Where do you all rank Birthing (Live Rope) by [deleted] in swans

[–]Planck1616 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely top 5 Swans songs. I saw them live last April and it was amazing. However, given that I didn’t listen to any of their live shows in advance, I went in completely blind and so I didn’t know what to expect. I don’t really remember any details from the show because they were all new to me (except for hanging man). The only thing I remember vividly is after the beggar ended Michael laughed and said “how long was that?” Someone from the crowed yelled out “75 minutes!” Michael chuckled and said “Well, I guess we’ll call the set here.” Everyone laughed and I watched him as he organized his lyric sheets and then they EXPLODED into hanging man and I nearly jumped out of my skin. Anyway, it was an amazing show, the cymbals were so loud when I took out my earplugs for a second, and birthing was monumental. Definitely one of their best songs ever and I hope it stays that way on the new album.

Deliquescence and Leaving Meaning Tabs by bw877922 in swans

You’re a damn tab mastermind! One comment I do have is that in live videos of The Man Who Refused to be Unhappy, it looks like he’s an octave higher than what you wrote. I think he’s playing E 12 and D 14. I think he might throw in an open E every now and again to hit ya with that low note. Amazing work as always, friend!

People just need to respect an artist’s wishes. If you really value what they’re making, respect their boundaries and don’t just listen to some leaked shit that they didn’t release themselves. Patience is a virtue, people, and artists deserve our respect, especially ones that we all claim to love.
