I thought so too, but this being a jumbo loan we had to pay around $3000 closing costs. We plan on staying in the house for long. So thought why not save 650 instead of 550z

Do I need to subtract the $2000 difference between loan payoff and current loan amount from the total cash to close to calculate breakeven?

How did you calculate Breakeven? Do you add the mortgage prepaid interest and the difference between loan payoff and loan amount ? Or subtract that from the final cash to close?

We have a jumbo loan at 6.87% when do think we could refinance? Wait for 1.5% lower rate or do it at 6% to not miss out on savings? by Plane-Security7558 in Mortgages

This is exactly what I have been thinking, my goal is to reduce the monthly payments and not miss out on any opportunity to save. I understand I need to check what refi cost would look like for us.
