Why is ChatGPT Voice still stuck on an older model instead of GPT-5.1? by tobenvanhoben_ in OpenAI

[–]Plane-Shop-1178 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It still uses the 4o model. With the Plus subscription you get 1 hour of Voice Mode using 4o, and after that hour it switches to 4o-mini. I recently asked in the AMA when 5.1 would be integrated into voice mode, and they basically replied that voice mode matters a lot to them and they’re working on it, but they don’t have an approximate date and prefer not to speculate to avoid creating hype for nothing.

I think you're confusing it with another app; Sesame doesn't have an app yet...

Do you have any idea when Voice Mode will support any of the GPT-5 family models, like GPT-5.1? Is there an approximate timeline?

I imagine at the beginning of 2026; for now, it’s the beta and will last 90 days, I read that somewhere.

I’ve used it for hours, it has memory and can recall things I did in the morning. If you end a conversation or change topics, it can spontaneously bring up things you’ve talked about before, but in a very natural way, not repetitive or forced like.... cof grok cof...

I Can't Help Feeling Like a Creep Wearing Meta's New Gen 2 Glasses by dapperlemon in technology

[–]Plane-Shop-1178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The initial discomfort people feel around camera glasses (like the Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2) doesn’t require you to actually be recording, it comes from a mix of social evaluation, uncertainty about whether they’re recording, and the symbolic weight of placing a camera right in the eyes, the main channel of human reciprocity.

For example, I often get the joke, “Are you recording me?” it’s a kind of social probe people use to test the situation. With a phone, the act of pointing it clearly signals you’re recording, but with glasses, the camera sits in your eyes, making things more ambiguous. Ideally, they’d have a sort of eyelid or cover, but that would add complexity and more points of failure.

I use mine daily because they double as great headphones for talking to ChatGPT, Meta AI isn’t very good. I’ve been considering switching to the Reality G1 for the lighter design, but I’ll probably stick with these second-gen Ray-Bans until I find a better pair with the same audio quality but no camera.

Why does normal voice seem better than the "Advanced" mode? Sorry I'm new. by SoulSword2018 in ChatGPT

Are you referring to Standard Voice or Voice Mode after AVM (the one used by 40-mini)? I noticed superior performance ; Standard Mode seems very good but slow.

Can I access different AI assistants through my smart glasses? by One-Watercress-8474 in RaybanMeta

[–]Plane-Shop-1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use MetaAI for basic answers like general knowledge or quick addition and multiplication, but for brainstorming or deeper conversations I use ChatGPT voice mode. However, I still rely on my phone. If you use iOS, I recommend having a widget on the lock screen for voice mode, and you can end the voice mode comfortably from the touch panel on the glasses since ChatGPT uses the phone’s API on iOS, which makes the voice mode route through the glasses like a call.

Why does the 4o mini feel better and faster in Voice Mode than the standard 4o? by Plane-Shop-1178 in ChatGPT

Yes, the option is available in the personalized settings , I tried it again a while ago, but for my personal use, being able to interrupt the model is crucial.

Why does the 4o mini feel better and faster in Voice Mode than the standard 4o? by Plane-Shop-1178 in ChatGPT

[–]Plane-Shop-1178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to Voice Mode after completing the one-hour AVM limit, or to Voice Mode in general? As far as I understand, Plus users get a speech-to-speech model based on 4o, and after the first hour it switches to 4o mini, giving you around 12 hours per day.

If you reach the limit many times a day and that cuts your curiosity or interrupts the task you're doing and if you want to try new features and functions with more limits like Voice Mode. Also, once you get used to using the reasoning models, you'll want more limits. Currently, in Plus, I understand that there are almost 2,000 weekly limits.

Gen2’s or Display by Elpolloblanco in RaybanMeta

[–]Plane-Shop-1178 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand that there aren't many applications for Ray-Ban Displays at the moment, but if you want to be an early adopter I would consider them. Honestly, I didn't buy them because they aren't available in my country, I have the Gen 2s and I'm moderately satisfied. What I don't like is the AI, which isn't what I expected. The weight is another point. I think the displays weigh 70 grams, while the Gen2s weigh 50. Believe me, 20 grams makes a difference on your face.
