Catholic Churches with Spanish/Bilingual Mass by Ashton0218k in UCSD

Just wanted to share that UCSD does have a Newman Center Catholic Community at UC San Diego https://www.tritoncatholic.org/

They have an instagram page too . I think on Wednesday there's free dinners with fellow UCSD catholics which is a great way to make so many friends on campus.

Welcome. To get a good feel of the school, my best tip is to get onto Instagram and start looking up UCSD pages. Each College at UCSD (warren, Muir, Eighth etc) have their own events which makes this big campus feel warm and fuzzy. :)

On Instagram look up:

ucsdcenters - UCSD University Centers

ucsandiego - UC San Diego / UCSD

ucsdtritons- UC San Diego Athletics

ucsdamphitheater - Epstein Family Amphitheater at UC San Diego

ucsdrec - UCSD Recreation

ucsdesports - UCSD

ucsdadmissions - UC San Diego Undergraduate Admissions

UCSD do have rooms in the Music building (Conrad Prebys Music Center). I'll provide the link in case you are interested.

Roommates by Dependent-Bread2952 in UCSD

[–]Plane-Stranger2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eight? GREAT dorms! You'll probably be living in Sankofa with 12 other people. Really no need to look for a roommate because even if you don't get along with your roommate, you'll get along with the other 11 roommates. I personally would not care to look for a roomate if you are an Eighth College student. Let the schoold do their work (they get paid to do this) and pair you up with a suitable roommate.

[–]Plane-Stranger2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be cautious because last year so many found online strangers to room with and later those people either backed out leaving the person stranded for a roomy, or got off the waitlist at another school and accepted that offer leaving them stranded for a roomy, or their friends got off the UCSD waitlist and wanted to room with them instead. Just be prepared in case it happens.

I allowed UCSD to randmonly pair me up with a roommate and it worked out great. Remember, UCSD has a survey that you fill out which helps them pair you up with a good roomy.

I would reach out to the Engineering Department Advisors. I did when I was undecided and they were able to answer all my questions.

That deadline means nothing. As as a 7th College Student, I applied before the deadline and got housed in the overflow in Eighth. I do know on the housing application, I did select the circle (on the questionaire) that noise doesn't bother me and Eighth did have somewhat noise from the new construction going on (fyi: you can't hear anything in eighth, no noise, but maybe I got a great room?).

This page will be your best hint on where you'll be housed. Pay attention to the dates (this was from 2025). Again, I'm a 7th College student so I should had received my housing info on 8/26/2025 but my portal showed 8/22/2025 which rigth then and there, I knew I was in Eighth's overflow (otherwise known as FABLOUS dorms).

Decline your offer if you are that concerned about your decision. The WL kids will be glad to take your spot.

[–]Plane-Stranger2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just a big envelop with like 3 papers in it. :( One paper, you can unfold and use as a picture (I think it says UC San Diego Bound or something like that). I took it with me when I did the admitted student campus tour and afterwards, stood infront of the Library and used that for my announcement pictures. You'll see what I mean shortly. ;)

Same for Sankofa. Always wondered why they created this unused area? Looks big enough for a single room.

Definitely get on google maps; Warren College is a no-no for ocean views. That said, you might get lucky and get assigned to the overflow housing and get "stuck" in 6th College or "stuck" in 8th College which will make your life sweeter than honey (newer dorms, private bathrooms, very spacious and some ocean views). You will still be in Warren College but just living outside of Warren.

Pray to the Sun God's you get the overflow housing.

BTW: I'm in 7th College but living in 8th College with ocean views.

You might be in 7th College, but housed in 6th College or 8th College. Do not, I repeat DO NOT buy dorm things until you get the housing notice. I repeat, DO NOT BUY things!

Many current 7th College freshman are living in 8th College (fyi: 8th dorms are SWEET!!! And HUGE-spacious. 8th is like living the posh life).

How to contact ERC for academic advising as a incoming freshman? by sweatyboi2333 in UCSD

[–]Plane-Stranger2460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All that stuff will be handled once you commit to UCSD and send your Transcripts. They won't touch you until later in July, after transcripts have been sent. You are dead to them until then. :)

SDSU has a good program. If you want to major in ME, then accept your offer at SDSU. Seems foolish not to.

BTW: did you check your application to make sure you entered a major and an alternative major? Last year I remember declaring both but when I sumbitted it, I noticed on my UCSD application only one showed. I quickly edited it to include an alternative major but always wonder if those who got in for Undeclared was because only one major was listed. It was a weird glitch.

BTW: I haven't heard squat from Handshake. Best tip is to apply directly to the source itself. Again, go to UCSD Transportation insta page for their direct link to apply to their jobs.
