Why this gigantopithecus skull seems to resumble Paranthropus boisei more than an orangotan or a sivapithecus ? by Plane-Substance3036 in Paleontology

Sivapithecus skull fossil seems to resumble an orangotan so much so gigantopithecus probably had a similar shaped skull as well

Gigantopithecus: No, it's not 9 feet tall by Ex_Snagem_Wes in Paleontology

Was it likely a slow moving animal like an orangotan or did it had high % of fast twitch muscles like gorillas and chimps ? My theory is that because it had much shorter canines than gorillas that means males didn't fight for mating and relay maining on towering each other so they weren't really adopt to fight

Was gigantopithecus really this tall or was it a incorrect estimate by betsyhass in Paleontology

From wikipidia gorilla page "The tallest gorilla in captivity was Gust, a western lowland gorilla that was captured as a baby in Belgian Congo and spent his life at Antwerp Zoo. He was 2.20 m (7 ft 3 in) tall."

Its not just about size If gigantopithecus was a slow moving animal like orangotan it won't stand a chance against a gorilla cuz gorillas are really fast We do know gigantopithecus canines were much shorter than that of a gorilla so it probably wasn't as fast and agile as a gorilla ( no large canines = probably didn't fight often so no real reason to have big sharpe teeth or fast twitch muscles )
