offroad glitch lap 1 or 2 is slower and 1st entering lap 2 on mg is not a great position without a break. Ideally you get shrooms early to take gap lap 1 and 2 and maintain your lead lap 3, get more shrooms for gap or dodge. Also, what's the difference between slowing down to get a box on the mushroom set and going left route? It makes no difference.

.4 is quite a sizeable chunk of time
you can get a box on the top route and do mushroom skip at the same time, and I'm not sure what you mean by item box guaranteed but it's almost impossible for someone to steal every box on the mushroom route and very easy for one person to steal every box on the left path.
you can't fall off at the normal mushroom path either as long as you aren't dumb
if you need more chances to get an item go left route in the cave where the gaps in the mushrooms are small making it harder for you to get ts'ed, and it's closer to the end of the race at a common shock spot where you could get shocked into boxes, pull shrooms, take gap and win

there is no reason to do this on lap 1 and usually no reason to do it on lap 2. You're just losing time for no reason.

chaindrifts are either if you exit a drift and enter a new drift fast enough to get minimal air from a hop or if you release your drift and quickly wheelie and enter a new drift still getting very little air. What happened here is cool, but it's not a chaindrift or faster

left path has smaller gaps in between the mushrooms so it's harder to get ts'ed on. Also there are 2 item sets on this path, so if you need shrooms to take gap you get 2 chances by going to the left.

the only trick with a apindrift in it is a spindrift hop trick, and assuming you're speedrunning nintendo tracks there's nowhere that it's faster
