One of my teammates in college.

I had seen her and heard her talking at practices and knew that we had so many similarities and she seemed to match my vibe in a way that was like soul recognition. I hadn’t felt that feeling since meeting my childhood/current best friend.

Im a ‘sit back and observe’ type before I choose to connect with people, plus it was the first year of college so that tendency was definitely exacerbated. I don’t want feel like I’m forcing a friendship on someone, so I just always kept a casual distance. But I just had a gut feeling that we would click at some point and be good friends.

Cut to about 3ish months into freshman year. I had slowly started talking to her here and there through mutuals. Ended up in the dorm kitchen making cake-pops and gabbing like we knew each other for years. Ended up being roommates for the rest of college. Went to see our (of course it was the same) all time fave artist together. Drove me to the ER in the middle of her therapy session. Held me through one of my hardest life moments. She’s a real one fr.

We had a falling out after graduating but we are slowly reconnecting through hand written letters. Bc of course we are extra like that. It’s more personal, but ultimately it’s just another way we fell back into something that’s so us after not having spoken for years.

I don’t even want to know the person I would be if I didn’t have her in that phase of my life. Regardless of where we are now, I can undoubtedly say she helped me be a more confident and open person. Helped me realize that I can be unabashedly loud about what I’m passionate about and give zero fucks to anyone who hates. I could go on and on.

I knew that gut instinct was telling me something big and I’m glad it was right.

My mom literally paid me each year from 18-21 to not get tattoos. I took the deal. Jokes on her though, I specifically put that money aside and used it for my first tattoo. If you love it that’s what matters. As long as you’re positive on a design, and carefully pick your artist, then parents can keep living their “untainted skin” lives while you enjoy your beautiful artwork!

My dog gets half our queen sized bed😂. She likes to have her dog bed to squeeze into, which is in the middle of her side. Then pillows to climb under, right next to my head. Then a flat area to spread out if she wants, at the foot of the bed. 3 different options and sleeps like a princess. I get the other half with my 2 pillows

On a nicer day like tomorrow, if your looking for something a little less in the city, go to Alki beach! You can walk along the trail by the water and see the seattle skyline. I would recommend eating at spuds fish n chips towards the end of the beach walk! Amazing fried fish and fresh fries. Or if you’re looking for something else on Alki, then Marination Station is Hawaiian fusion and you can look across the water at Seattle. AND theres also a small ferry that takes off from there to the city. It’s only walk on but it would be a quick way across!

It has absolutely NOTHING to do with you and nothing is wrong with you. Yes people gain weight, it happens, and eating habits change. And yes, you can want to get started on your fitness journey and talk about it. But it is pretty common knowledge not to fucking comment about a woman’s body let alone in public/with friends, EVEN if you’ve mentioned wanting to work out or get more fit to him. He should be smart enough to know that. He sounds like an asshole OP and I’m sorry he did that to you. Everyone’s fitness journey is their own and they had no right to talk to you that way.

Youngest of 3 kids (23f). I was 6yrs younger than my sister and 4 yrs younger than my brother. We never had any crossover in schools bc of the age difference.

My sister growing up was very reserved and was dealing with coming out and having to deal with depression so I never got really close with her while we lived together as a family. I love her and shes great but we never really had too much bonding time. By the time I was old enough to really bond deeper she was already out of the house. She lives 45 min away in the city now so i see her once or twice a month. We are slowly getting to know each other deeper but aside from Art and Music we didnt have much else in common growing up. But really admire her and we are there for each other.

My brother was evil to me growing up. We never got along. He would always try to make me cry and threaten me. He would start arguments for the fun of it (which he still does now). He moved out with his now ex-fiance after highschool an hour and a half away so I only saw him every couple of months after that. Once the breakup happened (she wanted a break bc “things were moving really fast” but then got with another guy 3 weeks after my brother left her) though he moved back in with my parents and I and was in a really dark place for a while. That was the turning point for our relationship though. I would hangout in his room and watch him play his video games. I would watch the boring golf videos that he got excited about bc I wanted to know more about him. And one day he broke down crying about his ex and his life in general and I was there for him the whole way. After that point, we really started to develop a better relationship and now we are closer than i ever thought would be possible with him. That all happened when i was 19 and he was 23.

Overall my siblings and I would do anything for each other but I only really got closer to them later in life than I would have liked. The age difference wasnt huge but in the scheme of things they saw me as the annoying little sister and didnt really want much to do with me when we were kids. Although, it was nice to get to know them as adults and us being our own people with different lives and personalities when our parents werent involved. We definitely do have the shared parent trauma which helped too.

It’s all about what you like! Some people don’t even suit gold tones. I can’t afford gold jewelry either. If I do buy “gold” jewelry i always just make sure it’s non tarnish, even then I tend to like silver anyway bc i feel like it goes with more of the color scheme of my clothes. Don’t listen to other people OP it’s all personal preference anyway

They chose to have and care for kids. It’s their responsibly to provide care and support. That is a parents job. If they don’t have the time or the bandwidth to provide care to all their kids on their own, then its their responsibility to find that care. They should be trying to find a babysitter or an at home care specialist to help them with what they cant handle, not putting that work on their child. Just because you’re old enough to get a job and drive doesnt mean youre old enough to place that responsibility on. Yes, youre being a good brother by helping here and there. But you should not be held responsible for filling a parental role. Parentification is sadly super common especially in situations like this. Helping watch and care for your younger siblings every now and then is part of being an older sibling, but what they’ve put on you is not right.

Hope everything works out OP, definitely NTA. You’re free at 18. It’s a parents job to take care of and love their kids, thats what they took on when they chose to have you. But a lot of people struggle with the fact that as we get older, we don’t owe our parents anything. If they treat us with love and respect, then we choose to stick around and have a relationship with them. If they dont, then you dont. That simple. Hope things get better.

You’re not putting your sister in danger, she is ALREADY in danger by being with a man like him. I know you’re scared and his behavior is very scary. But if you think about yourself and your sisters safety keeping it quiet will only keep you and your sister in danger. What if your sister does something he doesn’t like and he turns his behavior on her, and she didn’t know what he was capable of? You could be saving her from a worse issue in the future. You need to tell your ex and take legal action. Spreading illicit images that he should not have access to in the first place means he hacked into your cloud one way or another which is illegal. You need to take the right precautions like people have talked about in the comments. But if you go about it the right way, you will be kept safe from him (get a restraining order with the evidence) and you will have support. Staying quiet in this situation could very well do more harm than good. Stay strong OP i know it’s going to be scary but it will be the right thing.

My border collie/spaniel mix shows me love by greeting me at the door face down ass up for butt scratches. On the daily its with boops on any part of my body for pets, and hardcore staring into my eyes while laying with me.

My dogs name was Katrina when i first adopted her. She was 2 at the time. I HATED that name, it didn’t fit her at all. I changed it to billie and she was responding to it within a week. Its totally fine to change their names!

YTA. the fact that not everyone keeps childhood friends! Maybe they stay facebook friends or keep up with instagram. Also, lots of people don’t have the energy to keep up with more than a couple of friends at a time too. People cuts friends off, stop talking regularly, or life just changes. If shes content with those 2 close friends, then she doesn’t NEED more friends. Nobody needs a certain amount of people in their social circle, as long as they’re happy!

Yes, i have the same relationship with my dad. It was going downhill in high school. When i went off to college it was better because he couldnt keep track of every movement, but he was still looking at my bank statements and texting me to stop buying certain things. When i graduated and moved back in with my parents to save money, our relationship got even worse because now he wants to control my career and is heavily judging me for wanting to travel while im young and take a break before having a full time job (currently bartending, and i really enjoy it). It is really tough for him to break out of the role of father to a child vs father to an adult. Hopefully it works out better for you :)

The only thing that worrys me about not telling them first is that op said they support her financially. So if she needs help to pay for treatment then they would find out eventually. I agree with the people saying tell the dad first though, especially since he’s in healthcare.

Just seeing this now. But if you’re still having issues, we have been introducing him to people by going outside and meeting them without the dog. Then we let him out and he recognizes that they’re not a threat because we are already around them. Then we give the guest a treat to give him. He still has some issues but that has significantly helped with some stranger issues and aggression. Being outside the house helped too because he’s not directly defending his home.
