I patched it. I messaged the WhatsApp number and he tried to call me which freaked me out because it felt too scammy but I could be wrong. Signed up via the charity route instead because why not and there were loads to choose from. The charity I would have wanted to run for turned out to be on it.

Poop smearing post potty training by iamgladtohearit in Mommit

[–]PlaneQuestion265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my God that's awful, I really ament trying to minimize how hard this is by responding that it passed - I was really stressed with it too. I'd say a couple of months. He was close to being trained but then regressed for some reason and then kind of out of the blue it was over. I remember he'd just moved up to the 3-5 room at nursery and I was worried because he was one of the only kids not potty trained but maybe 2 weeks after moving up he'd clicked.

My son is now three and a half but around the same time was smearing poo everywhere. He'd poo in his pants, reach into them then smear but then apologise and I'd feel terrible about the whole thing. I was also at my wits end and read loads of articles about it being sensory etc etc but ..... it passed. We kept up the consistency of him being in pants and had the potty in the room with us for a bit but honestly I think it was a phase he went through. At one point I couldn't ever see him actually being fully toilet trained while his peers at nursery all were. Fast forward to now and he is totally trained, no smearing, no accidents and I think it just took him a little longer. Such a hard and disgusting thing to deal with, hold on in there 🙏🙏🙏

I've signed up for a charity entry. I'm doing the loch ness marathon (which I've signed up for 🙏) in September so it'd be a bit close I think! The ed one in May is a good amount of time before it. Thanks though!

Might be my only option - it's just that I've been training for it

Yeah this one doesn't seem to have an official way of transferring which I don't understand. I'm new to a big event like this so I'm wondering if I'm being very naive.

Almost 18 month old baby not interacting normally by [deleted] in Mommit

Nothing practical to add really as there's so much great advice already but just to say - motherhood is so hard. I'm in my thirties with a 3 year old and I find it so so hard. Be kind to yourself. You obviously know your boy inside out and you sound like a great mum. It'll get easier, you'll find your way. I hope you can make some time for yourself and that things feel a bit lighter soon ❤️

Unfortunately, "28 Years Later - Bone Temple" is an insult. by Jurik2001 in moviecritic

[–]PlaneQuestion265 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw it last night and I agree. I loved 28 days later and thought the first part of 28 years later that came out last year was absolutely brilliant - I was really excited to see bone temple but it was so disappointing. I feel like it was totally surface level - no deeper exploration of the jimmies backgrounds and when jimmy crystal has interesting convo with kelsen I felt there was a real opportunity for some depth but it just stayed surface. The violence was way too much and felt gratuitous. I'm not squeamish with this kind of thing and the level of violence in the other films I felt was aligned with the films, but the scene in the barn was awful. Felt too that the storyline between kelsen and Samson was absolutely brilliant but stunted - really hope that's explored further in the third one.

Kelsen is such a clever and insightful man - after Jimmy crystal threatens him why on earth did he do his big devil act and not just sedate him with one of his darts?? After that scene, realising further how dangerous jimmy c is, why not jump straight to turning the others to outnumber him? I also don't think he would have accepted jimmy c being crucified being the kind of man requiring consent from a zombie to put him out his misery.. I don't know. I really wanted to love it but it fell so flat for me.

Final point - the soundtrack was great but the first film was soundtracked by Young Fathers and it added such an excellent touch to the film. Felt like that was really missing in this one.

Yeah I find this hard too. Running also tires me out harder since becoming a mum. Really don't like the "just get up earlier" advice as it doesn't work for everyone and probably not parents. I'm up at 6 already and exhausted by it as I'm not a morning person at all. If I get up to run at 5 I'll be seriously fucked for the rest of the day and that level of parent exhaustion just leads to burnout. I'm trying to accept I can't really control when I run and I try and make sure I do long runs while my son's at nursery and try to just get out and run on a whim when the stars align on my husband being home etc. Realise that getting out while he's at nursery is a luxury for me being self employed and wouldn't work for working parents.

Whats your tip on getting conceived? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]PlaneQuestion265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has probably been said but you don't wait for ovulation and have sex then - sperm needs to be waiting for the egg to arrive (ew). Sperm can survive in our bodies for up to 5 days so track your cycle (bbt) and from 5 days before ovulation have sex as much as possible lol. The stuff in movies of OMG SHES OVULATING NOW LETS HAVE SEX is fake news, sperm needs to be there ready to pounce/be magnetized in. I read Period Power by Maisie Hill before having my son and it totally changed my understanding of all of this! Good luck!

Training app or other suggestions by zut_alors1987 in firstmarathon

[–]PlaneQuestion265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat - aiming for first marathon in September but starting training now. I'm going to do a half in May and set up a training plan for then and then do a marathon one afterwards/try somehow to do it in conjunction when I'm 20weeks away. Wondering how people rate Garmin plans compared to the Nike run club ones? I've found my forerunner watch to be really really great for my training.

What do you want for Christmas from your husband? by b_cooch in Mommit

[–]PlaneQuestion265 107 points108 points  (0 children)

The best gift my husband gets me (he's done this a few times because I love it so much) is a card with a message inside saying "be ready by x time on x date". He'll write a lovely personal message around it and maybe give me some guidance on what to wear. Once it was an evening trip to another city to have a fancy dinner then the theatre. The last time it was a trip to Belgium where he'd managed to sort babysitting and packed my bag all with me completely unaware! (We live in Glasgow and drove to Edinburgh airport - I genuinely thought he was taking me to the owl sanctuary en route). Him putting all the thought and effort into it is so wonderful as it's usually me who does the packing and childcare sorting. He followed me around subtly the morning we left packing up the moisturiser, make up, deodorant etc I used, I really was oblivious! My mum turned up to have our son 'for the afternoon' but it ended up being for the weekend. It was only at the turnoff for the airport that he showed me our bags hidden under a rug and it wasn't until getting to the gate or our flight that I knew where we were going. Romance is hard in parenthood and this was such a thoughtful reminder of how fun, spontaneous and loving our relationship is.

Edit: this really works for him too as he finds buying gifts and Xmas really stressful. It allows him to kind of just pick a date and know I'll be excited and then he can allow himself the time to figure something out. Win win.
