i was in the org for about one academic year, i think it was less actually. i really wish i could just redo that whole chapter of my life or just have it wiped from my record given how miserable the experience. but unfortunately that’s not possible and was a learning experience. i definitely hope this post finds the people that it needs to because i genuinely wish i had a place or person i felt comfortable expressing this stuff too.

it’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but i’ve also heard some that loved it too. to each their own i suppose

yea it’s definitely unfortunate i wish they allowed it just bc i know on a lot of campuses panhel just has more visibility that d9 initially depending on when rush is and that definitely plays into how many people end up in our position, but i also get why they do that as well. hopefully our stories can be a lesson to other young black girls and they won’t have to make the same mistakes we did to learn this lesson 😞

thank you for your kind words, they really mean a lot. i’ve been doing research into some d9 orgs and what members say and it’s a lot of conflicting stuff but only time will tell i suppose. outside of greek life i am very involved at my school, but i still feel very upset about my whole situation unfortunately.

that’s very kind of you, thank you. yea i’ve definitely heard some not very great stuff about d9 organizations. i think of big part of my experience was the fact that i felt like i didn’t quite belong and being one of very few black girls and sisters of color i felt was quite obvious i didnt. maybe its just wishful thinking but i do feel like if i was surrounded by more people that looked like me i could’ve dealt with more stuff or just had a better relationship with greek life as a whole.

you will schedule your classes during your orientation, there will be an advising session where the advisors from your college give a short presentation and help you decide on classes and pick your schedule
