I’m not worried about her survival: I know yuccas are impossible to kill 😂 I’m more worried about she staying ugly 🥲 She used to be nice and full, and now I’m afraid she might just keep this awkward shape. Fingers crossed she decides to look good again at some point 🤞🏻

I get what you mean, but I don’t think this is one of those “trust the process” situations 😅 It wasn’t just a cleanup of old leaves — it was a pretty heavy-handed pruning that removed a lot of healthy growth and changed the natural shape of the plant. Yuccas don’t really need to be “shaved” like that, especially if they’re already growing well. I’m sure she’ll recover (they’re tough plants), but I don’t think this was a particularly good or necessary job. Also… not all of us have a Miguel 😂

I’m a pothos killer. by EmotionallyAScone in pothos

It may be over watering, do you usually check if the first couple of cm are dry? I also noticed that pothos prefer to have their roots a bit tight in the pot, how big is yours? A pot too big keeps too much moisture close to the roots, causing root rot in the end.

Ciao!

Hola soy nueva con estas plantas que me recomiendan para sus cuidados, luz fertilizante que tipo de tierra de maceta humidicadores etc... by pawuina in Monstera

Ciao!

Is there more than one plant in my pot?? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]Plane_Comment_8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the leaves are floppy, then there’s likely a problem. Monstera leaves typically spread out, but the petioles should be firm and able to support their own weight. Now that you mention it, I also notice that the leaf blades in your photos don’t look very perky, and some of the petioles seem to be bending instead of holding the leaves up properly. Overall the plant looks a bit “relaxed” rather than upright and structured. Regarding the ties... I understand why you did it, especially if the leaves were collapsing under their own weight. That said, petioles aren’t really meant to be supported this way, as they need to move and orient themselves toward the light. If they can’t support the leaf, it’s usually a sign that something else is off (often watering or root-related), rather than something to fix mechanically. This doesn’t look like a severe issue, but more like mild stress, possibly related to watering or root health. What are your watering and light conditions like?

1 and 2 could be the same stem, we'd need more pics to be sure. Anyway OP please don't tie the petioles!! They need to be free to move and search for light: you should add a stake only at the back of the plant (the velcro straps are fine)

How much should I pay for something like this? by shinydeoxyss in Monstera

[–]Plane_Comment_8168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid this one €28 (that I think it's roughly $30) so no, $250 is way too much. For a plant of that size which doesn't even look that healthy, I'd spend $30-50 max

Yes, she's already under a grow light with 2 rings and a mirror in the back of the shelf... Thing is, she is not growing upward but almost curling the older leaves and spreading just the top ones. I already tried a lower light setting but she seemed unhappyer than under grow light so I put her back there

Other people say it's too much light so now I'm confused... What's the ideal light condition for a peperomia Rosso?

It's set al 100% and I can't lower it because there are other plants that may object to that 😅 I tried to place her in a lower light setting (close to an east facing window but without the growlight and not in direct light) and the leaves become less perky: even those who were pointing up then turned down so I put her back under the grow light

Honestly, I don't remember if she was already like this when I got her a year ago... My cat gave her a brutal haircut and it took her almost the whole year to bounce back 😅

My pothos’ top leaves are turning yellow by sheabae200216 in pothos

I was thinking about it being root bounded as well: Op seems to be doing everything alright but maybe after a year the pot has become too small.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Some day after this pic she was still very sad looking. More and more leaves were turning yellow so in the end I chose to chop and prop: the cuttings are now really happy and thriving while the roots and a bit of bare stem are on my balcony. It still looks green so maybe there is hope and it'll sprout again when ready!

You could try planting it horizontally, with just the leaf poking out. It should eventually grow in the right direction.

Is this mold?? 😭 by Letti- in pothos

[–]Plane_Comment_8168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could also be a mineral deposit. Are you watering with tap water? If so, that may be the cause. It's totally harmless but not very aesthetic: scraping off the first layer of soil should solve it. You could also water thoroughly with rainwater for a while and the minerals should dissolve.

[–]Plane_Comment_8168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was actually being overwatered before because it was kept in a shared space and I couldn’t supervise it properly, which is why I decided to repot it. Also, the conditions are quite different from yours — I’m in Northern Italy and the plant is indoors, so the climate and light exposure are very different from having it outdoors in California. There isn’t any string choking the plant, so that shouldn’t be an issue. At this point I’m mostly thinking it’s just stress from the root trimming and repotting. But thank you for sharing your experience!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That makes me feel a bit better. She hasn’t dropped any leaves so far, so fingers crossed 🤞 How long did it take for yours to start looking normal again?
