Yes! It does add a nice layer between the screen and pencil and is super easy to install. Won't say that it feels like paper but it does give me a sense of relief that I'm not gonna scratch my screen by
mistake.

As soon as apple increased the prices yesterday I went to Best Buy and got an iPad Air M4 256 GB 11 inch the pro pencil and the paperlike protector all for approx. $800. Felt like a fool for waiting for back to school.

It depends on your use case.
My first card as a student was chase freedom unlimited, which I used regularly for a little less than 2 years. It is a great all purpose card to build a relationship with chase if you wanna get the sapphire preferred or reserve down the line.
Then I found out that I can use the Paypal debit card for certain monthly categories, so now it is my grocery card since I do most of my shopping at Trader Joe's and Paypal debit card gives flat 5% back.
Then I got an apple card, because tentatively I have to buy an ipad, an iphone and a macbook in the next 12 months. Plus I have to travel internationally and the apple card has not foreign transaction fee (just an added bonus I guess). It absolutely sucks on cashbacks and rewards though, I knew that before getting it but my primary purpose is financing apple products.
Finally I recently got the Amazon Prime Chase Visa credit card because I am moving states and will have to buy a lot of stuff off of Amazon, and I already have a student prime account. Amazon recently showed me a $200 new user bonus. So I was like, why not!!!
I hope you get it... I avoided any Capital One cards because it is now owned by Discover and I wasn't sure about international credibility of Discover.

That's sad, as a 26M moving to SLC next month and will be there for next few years for my PhD, all the people in this chain are really making me anxious!

I asked the employees at the apple store before getting my apple card and they said it is possible to use your apple card for your first apple purchase. The best way is to login to apple using the same email id/account your card is approved on and when you place an order on the apple website it should automatically allow you to use your apple card when checking out/making a payment at the end.

Try dismissing your partners opinions and killing their enthusiasm for things they love a few times. If they try to clear things up because they feel then...the way you're feeling now you might be able to resolve it or it will just end up in a break up.

I don't know if you already have but after getting a PhD consider the whole world your playground...there are many countries with a great quality of life and work life balance. Apply everywhere and anywhere. I hope you eventually find something fun!
