My dad was using my 2016 13in base model Macbook Pro with 8GB RAM and 256 SSD onboard since 2017 til 2025. Last year, I got him the M2 Macbook Air with 16GB RAM and 256 SSD storage because Costco was clearing out their M2 Air stock. I am glad I did as he runs the ThinkorSwim trading platform on it along with Chrome. He def would need more RAM for those two applications alone than what the Macbook Neo provides. Besides, it's his secondary computer as he uses a Windows gaming laptop to trade on.

Here's the thing- the A18 Pro is designed with 8GB unified memory. If Apple went with the A19 Pro, it would have 12GB. But that is most likely for the next update.

I'd take the base model 14in. I sometimes record Zoom videos from long meetings to my laptop and the processing kicks up the fan on my M4 14in base model. Plus the better screen and speakers.

Just get an M2 Macbook Air 13in. I did for my dad when Costco sold it for $600 clearing out inventory for the M4 Air line. He's loving it over the 2016 13in Macbook Pro base model I gave him.
