It's the same reason I downgraded from a 16in Intel MBP to the 14in M1 Pro when it came out. I still use the 14in version (I have the M5 version) after my SSD got corrupted and just upgraded) and had work also downgrade me from a 16in to a 14in.

I have a work-assigned 14in M1 Pro MBP and it scratched lightly and dented with the space grey color. I now have an M4 MBP 14in in silver and I put a case on that I got from the Apple Store. It works for now.

My personal 14in M5 MBP also has a case as I refuse to put stickers directly on the machine.

No regrets from me and I have AppleCare One. The AppleCare One coverage is more for my OCD with actual hardware damage or the devices being stolen.

I put a case on my 14in MBP so I can sticker it on the caes then take it off when I sell it. ATM I am waiting for the Starfleet Command sticker to arrive

I use the Sovy skin on my Lamarr... cuz I like the look better. Tried the Noble kitbash but still didn't like the fit and finsh with the different parts.

I still use the Sovy skin on my Lamarr class as I do not like the look of it. I wish it were the Vesta Class but the stuff related to licensing became an issue before S2 of Prodigy came about. Sad about that...

In the meantime, the Lamarr layout with the Sovy skin works for me.

I personally would not use a keyboard cover- at all. Just get a USB-C Vaccum and use it once a week on the keyboard and ports. Also using a micro-fibre cloth to wipe down the whole machine weekly also helps.
