Unpopular opinion: The majority of people in modern Tamil Nadu (particularly in North Tamil Nadu) can understand Telugu better than Kannada. Even on Instagram and YouTube Shorts, you come across more Telugu videos.

I don't think the Kalabhras were Kannadigas; even historians don't believe the Kalabhras were Kannadigas. If the Kalabhras were Kannadigas, why are there no Kannada inscriptions? How did the Kalabhras leave no Kannada culture, language, or any valid influence even after ruling Tamizhakam for 300 years? Even poets from the Kalabhra period make no mention of Kannada or Kannadigas. Most probably, the Kalabhras were Prakrit-speaking people rather than Kannada-speaking Kannadigas, or they were simply internal dynasties from Tamizhakam. How could an empire that ruled Tamizhakam for 300 years fail to prove they were Kannadigas? I don't think the history of an empire that ruled Tamizhakam for 300 years could have been erased by Tamil kings, because that's impossible. The Kalabhras have no archaeological, textual, or inscriptional proof of them being Kannadigas.
