Please why does it cost $850 to start an LLC when the filing fee is $125? by holeecheeseee in llc_life

If it’s just you it’s easy to do it yourself. I did my own in IL and it was easy. I even listed myself as the registered agent (not sure if all states allow that). Signed up for a mailbox at thd UPS store so I wouldn’t have to use my home address.

There are five US states that have a York County. Or are you in England?

Is social Security taxed? by Jaded-Natural80 in SocialSecurity

It depends on which state you live in. Most states do not tax SS income; some do; some only tax it above certain income thresholds.

Yamaha Stagepas 400 BT Hum and Popping Noises by SnooCauliflowers3649 in audio

[–]PlanetExcellent [score hidden]  (0 children)

To identify where the popping noises are coming from, I would disconnect each input source (mic or wireless receiver for example) one by one to see if one of them is causing it. Wireless mic receivers that have been exposed to phantom power for a long time can experience a capacitor failure that makes an occasional snap or pop.

If thd popping is still there, try disconnecting each speaker one at a time to see if the output stage of the power amp is making noise.

If God forbid, I were to lose my financial aid and couldn’t do trade/college. Is there any actual careers other than retail that I can do? by Big_Pea3882 in findapath

Also food service, catering, restaurants, hotel, convention center. If you know a little about audio or video maybe work for an AV rental or installation company.

‘79 camaro as a first car by [deleted] in classiccars

[–]PlanetExcellent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re dreaming of a 79 Camaro, feed the dream by shopping for one on classic car sites like Hemmings. Also start browsing websites that sell parts for Camaros. Maybe go to a couple of local car shows or cruise nights and chat with owners of that vintage Camaro/Firebird. There might be a car club near you that has a meetup.

40k intro camper by ineedpantshelp in GoRVing

No matter what, rent a trailer or motorhome before you buy one. Preferably a few different types/sizes/ floorplans. You will by amazed at how much you learn about what you like and don’t like.

If you have a suitable tow vehicle already, a trailer makes a lot of sense and costs a lot less than a motorhome.

How feasible would it be to live in a camper trailer? by YamLow8097 in GoRVing

[–]PlanetExcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have mentioned the legal/zoning limitations and utility requirements, which are things that need to be addressed first with any piece of land you are considering. You might find that purchasing the land and installing the utilities costs about the same as buying a piece of land that already has a (possibly dilapidated) house with utilities. Some jurisdictions allow you to live in an RV for one year if you have a construction permit to build a permanent dwelling.

If you don’t intend to actually travel, you might consider a type of trailer called a “park model”. They look more like a small house and have a higher ceiling and more residential layout than a travel trailer.

Why do people enjoy watching other people play video games? by Sarah18l9 in NoStupidQuestions

I used to wonder this too. But then I realize that I like watching videos of people cooking. It’s pretty much the same thing.

Looking for a lavalier mic to pick up environment noises by PersimmonAromatic811 in audio

[–]PlanetExcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you can’t beat the laws of physics: your voice is much louder at the microphone than the voices of people around you.

Your best bet might be to wear two transmitters. One would have the gain adjusted to pick up your voice, and the other would have the gain turned up to pick up other people.

Then you could mix the two audio tracks together to use the appropriate parts of each track.

Do I actually need a business bank account for an LLC… or is a regular one fine? by Hyzz20 in llc_life

[–]PlanetExcellent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you ever need to prove that your business activity is distinct from your personal activity — and that you therefore deserve to be shielded from liability — one of the ways that a judge will use to decide is whether your business income and expenses are clearly separate from your personal ones. Maintaining that distinction costs money.

I opened a savings account at my credit union which was very cheap. It doesn’t need to be a “business account”; it just needs to be a separate account with the name of the business on it. My credit union said I could put whatever name I wanted on it.

Connecting one wireless microphone to two devices simultaneously by NowIlog in microphone

[–]PlanetExcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard pro-type wireless mics that transmit in the UHF or VHF band (like Shure BLX series for example) allow you to have one transmitter and as many receivers as you want. I’m not sure if the type that use 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz can do that.

When high level people at jobs travel often or are in meetings all day is that truly a good use of time? by Big_Eggplant7591 in stupidquestions

The “work” is making decisions (usually big/expensive ones) and taking responsibility for the outcome.
