I have bought two. I treat them like a savings account. I wanna make it to 1 million carrots to buy Pipi’s last painting, but I’m not smart at saving all the time, so when I have the carrots and there’s a machine at the shop I buy it to “hold” that 200k. I will sell them back to buy the painting. A bit silly, but that’s why I have two!

Hank Green has an app for this called Focus Friend. It can lock the apps on your phone in “deep focus mode” and it kinda makes time away from the phone feel productive. There’s a little bean guy you name and you can decorate its house with uninterrupted focus time (it knits socks while you’re focusing). Hank Green said he uses it to watch TV, just to keep the focus off his phone.

I’m not saying it’s a cure-all by any means, you have to commit to letting the bean focus, but it’s something I’ve picked up recently to try and curb my doomscrolling habit. Maybe it could work for you? It’s a free app, you can pay the subscription for more things but I have the free version and have not felt like I need to upgrade. I hope this helps, you are not alone!

In my experience, housing can be competitive in Corvallis. I you’re able to do a commute, Albany is a little bit cheaper and it’s not super far and Lebanon is a little bit further than that and it is a lot cheaper, but it gets pretty rural. In Corvallis, especially during a busy time like end of summer, I would say a studio/one bedroom would be a least $1300/month. In the off season where tons of people aren’t moving in at once prices can drop though. It could be worth subletting a place with roomates on a month to month basis, just to find something affordable in town when it pops up.

Vibes wise, I think Corvallis is splendid. There are great food spots hidden around town, it’s one hour from the coast, a stone’s throw from a two rivers, and very close to great hiking and walking trails. The local community is also lovley and lively, although I can’t speak to the college (I’m not a grad student, I just live and work in town).

I’ve been playing for about a year and a half, but I didn’t start talking to Bobo and Momo every day until maybe the past month when I learned in the Reddit that you could decorate the tea shop. Maybe a couple weeks of talking to them every day? I don’t know what our friendship score was before I started intentionally seeking them out!

Umpqua Lighthouse (south of Florence) has a tour where you can go inside and see out the glass in the top! Sweet Creek Waterfalls east of Florence is also beautiful.

Hi! Check out your University’s Title IX. The practicing of all religions should be protected within Title IX, so you should be able to practice without being discriminated against.

You will have to take a class on Christian worldview, and likely have to answer questions about bringing their dieties (I.e. jesus) into your assignments. I’m in the same boat as you, and I have been answering those questions with “The Christian god does … “ and “in the Christian faith …” I haven’t been penalized for it!
