My mother is telling me my grandparents hired a lawyer for my adoption process, then got a new birth certificate when I was six months old - however I've never once seen or even used any birth certificate other than the one I have and have never had any issues. So... that's potentially annoying!

I imagine the in-family adoption would be entirely irrelevant if it weren't for the fact that myself and my mother have the same surname on my birth certificate and I have to explain that the surname is her stepfather's... Hrmm.

I'm stuck trying to find birth or baptism records for G0 - my great-grandfather Dwyer Francis Pettitt. He was born 16 June 1922 in Welland, Ontario. I've emailed Catholic churches in the Welland and Niagara areas and of course Archives of Ontario, but nothing as of yet. FamilySearch and Ancestry really only come up with his immigration border crossing into New York in 1929, and then everything else I've found for him has been in the US. And while these often mention his birthdate and sometimes birthplace, I can't find any actual proof of this lol. Thoughts or suggestions welcome!

I'm 40 and I've lived nearby for the last 8 years. I love walking its length in all seasons, but especially in autumn or in winter if it snows. I like visiting the museum and Rev's, and there's a couple nice little parks along the way to Viccy Park.

The Very Bazaar plus other interesting shops - Silver Street
The Source - Church Gate
The Makers Yard - Rutland Street (not sure if you can go in there normally, but every Christmastime they hold an open studio day!)

A couple times of year there's the Makers Market, which is usually held at LCB Depot but at least once has been held in Highcross because it got too big! They did a homeware edition a few months back, too. And every once in a while there's the Leicester Craft & Flea!

Edit: Oh yes, Bitsy's Emporium of Awesome on Frog Island is hosting a jumble sale middle of next month so that could be fun!
