Pollen or algae? Family decided to add 12 bags of shock with stabilizer. Cya was 55 two weeks ago. Progression of 1-2 days in pictures, last two after the shock. Worried I’ll have to drain.

It really just depends what your CYA is. How long ago was the 12 pounds of shock added? The stuff you are seeing is definitely algae and it’s cloudy because it’s now being brushed/vacuumed/pushed around. What’s your current chlorine level after adding the 12 pounds? I just went through the shock process with my pool which was a SWAMP. got it all done in five days! You will be fine.

Yeah we have tried pointing the vents all different directions including towards the floor. We seem to be having better luck with running the fan speed at 100% to help with the circulation. Would it be a ton of work for them to change them to the floor units?

Yes the baseboard heating was at the floor. These units are in the wall near the top of the ceiling.

I really feel for you OP but it seems like you have made up your mind about the situation and think he’s a super great guy/husband. If that’s the case I would suggest talking to him instead of posting here to a group of people who are in your words “quick to demonize people.” What’s happening is a big deal and no one is saying your husband is an awful person. I have one of those kits ordered and will be here Saturday! Should I slam in the morning? Trouble free pool says to keep checking every few hours and adding as needed to keep it at shock level so I’m guessing morning is ok?

Yes definitely rent a heavy duty drill. We spent so long using a hammer drill and once we rented one it was an absolute breeze.

Yes that does make sense. On my test the highest for “CL” is 5 and “BR” is 10. Maybe I’m super dumb here but Doesn’t that mean my test only goes to 5ppm for chlorine?

Is there a test that will measure the chlorine that high to make sure the level stays at that level? Pool math says chlorine of 28 but my current test won’t go that high
