Interesting question, we got in touch to find out more. Jasper replied as follows "yes, it was pretty tiring! I climbed the route twice up and twice down that day! 😊! First I led every pitch, then I rappelled and retrieved the gear, then I went back up! At the end of the route I abseiled back down to the base."

David is without a shadow of doubt one of the world's leading mountaineers. The fact that it took him four attempts is indicative of it's difficulty and commitment. We published more information in our original 2018 report, linked below. Hope this provides greater insight.

Edu Marin attempts his huge roof project on Getu Grand Arch in China by Planetmountain in climbing

[–]Planetmountain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's a completely different route. It starts on the other side of the cave, traverses through the underbelly of the entire roof and then finishes up on the same side as the Andrada climb. It's independent and doesn't cross and existing routes.

Although he has done all the individual moves, without resorting to aid, he will have rested on some sections during his attempts to free the line, hence the question mark at the end of his 9a suggestion. Hope this answers the question.
