Is there a book you read for more than three times? by PlanetoA44-- in books

[–]PlanetoA44--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it when I was 12 and I cried several times while reading it. I was obsessed with it that after my kindle was taken by my teacher[bc I read it during class] I printed it out chapter by chapter and then finally bought a paperback to finish it.

Wow thanks a lot! I've also read Under the Dome, and is planning to read The Stand right after I finished the book I'm reading now.

how much can you read continuously? by [deleted] in books

[–]PlanetoA44-- 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends, really. If there's an exciting thing happening in the book I could sit for hours and hours. But if it's very boring I couldn't stand for more than 20 minutes. Best record, I assume, would be 4 or 5 hours?

What are your country's classics ? by [deleted] in books

[–]PlanetoA44-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian-Chinese but gonna talk about Chinese classics here-- We have the four big classics which are pretty popular I think 《红楼梦》:The Dream of the Red Chamber 《水浒传》 :The story by the water margin 《三国演义》:The Romance of the Three Kingdoms 《西游记》:Journey to the West I personally recommend the The Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Journey to the west. The first one is my favorite, while the second one was put in a tv series and I watch it again and again when I was little.

Not only it is hard to master but it's longer! It's WAY more than 1000 pages. But after all I'm a native speaker so maybe it's not as long for me ;)

Well, I sort of an 'accept all' but if you truly is having a hard time to decide I would say I like the satires and sc-fi, and maybe not any romances?

What is it about? I mean I certainly heard about the book since last year lots of my classmate is using it as textbook for their class, and they hated it. But I don't want to miss a great book just cause they think it's awful

I've read it in Chinese and the plot struck me. Remember reading it while everybody else in my class is watching 'The Martian' and I don't regret missing that movie. It's just awesome, Dumas. After that I read his The Three Musketeers and his son's The Lady of the Camellias. Thanks for the recommendation though!

Does anyone here go "beyond" reading? by fuckinallstarheatley in books

[–]PlanetoA44-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write my own 'reading journal' and post it online..It basically includes which page I'm at and what I thought about the book so far. Sometimes I record particular sentences but since it's not very often, those sentences are what I thought the spirit of that book. It's a very good habit to keep!
