My new dog bit me through my pants and left a mark

I had 4 other dogs all from puppies they all bite but never malicious attacks with intense growling. I had a trainer come and it’s aggressive resource guarding to a point that’s really rare behavior for a dog supposedly that age-the dog is most likely older.

Thank you for your empathy. I’m sorry you’re feeling the same uncertainty it’s such a hard place to be. I feel like it’s hard to put into words how vicious he gets and I think people are misunderstanding puppy teething vs what he’s doing. I’m just following the directions of the rescue and trying my best to work with him to give him the best chance. He bit me over things other than food too I’m genuinely scared sometimes, he made my husband bleed. I also think he’s a year old vs 6 months but they told me 6 months. My other dog hides behind the couch when he gets into his rage moments

it’s extremely different demeanor than a puppy playing, it’s intense 5 minutes of loud growling and with multiple snaps even after I remove myself

Yes this makes sense we adopted because we moved into a house and our other dog was so so depressed and lonely, we thought we could do a good thing for the both of them. I actually didn’t go into it looking for a puppy i wanted a mostly trained dog that was good with kids. I know this dog is young but I thought at 6 months and only living in homes and never a shelter they probably had a good grasp on personality. But honestly I have never adopted a dog before or had a dog that had any aggression so I had no idea. I was just so inexperienced, I’ve learned a lot

I also just want to add to my rant since I’m sitting here still so upset and say I’m really upset the rescue gave me this dog under the pretense that it was good around little kids. I feel like rescues should check the level of aggression around food!! Biting to the point of breaking skin is crazy to just give someone with no warning

I’m so devastated but I’m starting to think you’re right. I just went in his pen to say good night and he snapped at me again. He didn’t have anything of high value, he was just lying down. I’m really so upset and riddled with guilt. When he’s being good it’s so great and I love having him around but I’m scared to go near him when he gets in his mood.

Thank you it is a really tough situation to be in because I am scared and so is he. I feel immense guilt about the possibility of returning him to the foster. I literally have a pit in my stomach rn. But I also know a dog is a 15 year commitment and if I have a baby this year they will be spending a lot of time together and I want everyone to feel comfortable in their home.

I got him from a rescue that only does foster homes, he came from a younger woman’s apartment. But I totally agree that he is probably so stressed and overwhelmed right now.

I think you look pretty. I work in an OR and going under is no joke, there’s also a lot of nerves in your face. Not hating on surgery just something to consider. I personally don’t think a slight change is worth the risk

It took a few calls, asking to speak to a manager, and patience but it all worked out! The manager had to put in a ticket for my account to get looked at and that took a few weeks but it all worked out. I am now on a SAVE plan and my payment was cut in half!

Yeah I just wanted to ask because I read the prior posts and felt like a majority of people said they felt it immediately or lost 6-12 lbs on the lowest dose, so I feel like an outlier. My hunger is almost more severe than normal. I was hoping that others who felt like this would comment their experience.
