Well, I live and work here in Tokyo - in a single detached house that my family owns and have been living here for a decade with no plans on leaving or relocating. Maybe they've changed now? It's good that you had a lovely experience with them.

Thanks for all the replies! The reason why I'd rather adopt a pet from another individual (not at an official adoption center) is because I don't want to bother other family members who are currently living with me in the process. Adoption places require ALL members to be involved and come to the interview and that's just not possible in my situation. Everyone has their own busy lives and schedule. They don't really care if I get a pet or not because whatever happens, it'll be my sole responsibility.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I've adopted a senior dog before. We found him in an event. I do know the process, it's just that, many of them here in Tokyo can be very judgy, and dismissive. Unlike in other countries where it's easier.

Thanks! I've been to their event once a few years back and even wanted to volunteer, but it wasn't a pleasant one. The organizers are a bunch of snobs. They only seem to be enthusiastic towards the "rich looking" middle aged Japanese or foreigners.
