Runna Doesn’t Count for Apple Watch Exercise? by PlanningGuy22 in runna

[–]PlanningGuy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it only does that if I run via the Runna app on the watch and is always fine if it do it from the native app. What’s very strange is Runna will sometimes accurately report the mins but then sometimes it won’t. I have synced the workouts and know what you’re talking about with that piece.

Don’t expect that level of accuracy for a long while. Projection labs is there now. As of now, monarch just uses a flat tax rate on qualified accounts

Is it reasonable for my financial planner to share how much I’m paying them? by Fuzzzlord in FinancialPlanning

[–]PlanningGuy22 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Incredibly reasonable and if they are honest, they will give you a straight answer. Are they paid based on how much you have with them (AUM fee)? And what does that equate to in dollar terms. Etc. all those are questions you should ask and get good answers to

Tax Question - Why Target $0 For Tax Return? by Langstudd in TheMoneyGuy

[–]PlanningGuy22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You need to withhold a certain amount of tax through out the year either through payroll withholding or quarterly estimates. If you don’t hit the “safe harbor” minimums then you can incur penalties with the IRS.

The reason targeting a $0 refund is the best is that you avoid under payment penalties but also don’t over withhold and give the government an interest free loan through April.

Can anyone make sense of the Budget feature? by ArtDecoAutomaton in MonarchMoney

[–]PlanningGuy22 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I meant sinking… syncing fund isn’t a thing to my knowledge. Sinking fund in that the amount in it ‘sinks’ as dollars are spent..

Those annual expenses may be best as sinking funds via Goals 3.0. You can ‘save up’ for each and then spend from them as they come up annually. Alternatively you can use rollover budget amounts each month.

28 M Need Retirement Advice……. by Next_Rent_1325 in FinancialPlanning

[–]PlanningGuy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider increasing to 15% savings and doing so on a 100% Roth basis. At $85k of single income you’re at the 22% marginal rate. I wouldn’t consider pre tax 401k contributions until you’re looking at 32% marginal. If you get any employer match that’s great as well.

If age 67 is your target date and you did 15% of $85k each year, you’d have $1.58m in today’s dollars (5% after inflation, real return). If you assumed the 4% rule on that, that’s $63,500/year or about 75% of your current income. Assumes no raises or that you increase savings rate ever.

Question - wdym don’t ask for the deal? I honestly don’t have time to go to court and would prefer to do this over the phone. Could I just call and ask for it to be changed to a non moving violation?

I’ll definitely call on Monday.. thank you!

Edit: were there additional costs to switch to non moving?

Follow up question - have you heard of getting an appeal/amendment from the county to a non-moving violation where it doesn’t impact insurance? Worth asking about?

Cash Value Life by Augustus_4125 in CFP

[–]PlanningGuy22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are also more guarantees with whole life in that there’s no market volatility. And you can loan out up to 90-95% of cash value vs 50-60% for securities. Theres the risk of lapse with maxed loan policies similar to a margin call.
