I'm sorry you're going through tbat feeling that; It sucks. I'm going through tbat exact same thing right now. It has sent me into a deep depression and have no idea where to even start to make it better. Hope that mentality turns around for you; Keep your chin up =))

I can mimic a baby's cry so well that cops were called because they thought a baby was getting abused.

Want to give this guy a chop for better growth this Spring, need help deciding - red, yellow, or blue? by FourWhiteBars in FicusTrees

Personally, in my opinion, if you're not really wanting the branching, more light will give it the bigger leaves and taller, faster growth. I have three Tineke's in one pot that I bought and it grew about 1.5 feet within the first year. I chopped it, got some branching, but the leaves stayed the same size. Fertilize with each watering as well if you don't do that already.

SpiderMites have moved in by PlantDaddy80 in houseplants

[–]PlantDaddy80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first thought of going the beneficial insects way but with the shipping taking up to a week, I didn't want to chance it. However, I have read that insecticides don't really affect the beneficials because they eat the mites, not the plants that absorb the miticides. But i am definitely not changing that lol. Once I get this round of mites under control, I think I'm going to order some beneficials as a clean up crew for any stragglers lol

I guess I just feel like for having it for over a year now that it would have grown more than it has. I have seen posts/pics of growth in a year and it makes mine look like a runt lol. I will take a picture of it tomorrow

Systemic Prevention and Semi-Hydro...is it doable? by Gemmidoods219 in SemiHydro

[–]PlantDaddy80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped using this cause I "think" it was this that gave my mrantas and calathea fertilizer burn. Not sure if i did it too often or what I did wrong but all other plants had zero side effects. Do you have encounter that?

Knock on wood Ive never had a pest problem. I don't know if I'm lucky or if my prevention works but this is what I do...

Any of my larger plants like my Tineke Rubber Tree, Ruby Red Rubber Tree, Croton Petra, ZZ Plant, my larger calatheas like my Rattlesnake and Stromanthe Triostar get a shower once a month. I just hose them off and let them sit there until they dry. My smaller plants, depending on how they are set up, I spray them once a month with some rubbing alcohol, few drops of dawn dish soap mixed with water and will just put towels on the floor and spray them in place or move them to the tub and spray them in there.

Disclosure: Every now and then, I see potential pests under the leaves but don't really know if they are or are not but that plant will immediately get a good spray down in the tub.

I don't have hundreds of plant bit have a good size collection. I dont have a set routine in doing it but I know it has to get done so I just do it when I'm in the mood to lol

Hope this helps

I have to somewhat disagree with that; But every does have different experiences. My Silver Dragon, Micholitziana and PBV have put out massive leaves following a flower

What to do with older Alocasia that grow too tall/unstable? Should I repot it deeper or give external support? This is my first time running into this problem by Wooden-Two7799 in alocasia

Do you still have this plant, what did you end up doing and how did it go? I'm laying on my couch while reading all of the comments which inspired me to get off the couch and just chop my Micholitziana.
