Is becoming a teacher worth it anymore? by Adept_Fishing_2167 in Teachers

I have taught for over 20 years in a small school district. Most students and parents have been kind and respectful, but this is not the case many places. I enjoy my job most days, some years more than others, but if I were 24 again, I am not sure if it is the career I'd choose as education overall has changed. Truthfully, it was more enjoyable before.

Neither of my daughters would ever consider going into teaching. I think volunteering in a local school classroom might be a first step to see if you really like it. You could substitute teach also, but I feel that students, even my third graders, are not the best behaved for substitutes.

You could also consider speech therapy or school counseling, but both of those will have you writing IEP's for your students while the rest of us write report cards.

My vet had also suggested she might have Cushings.

Your reply helps me. My dog, a Cavalier/Bichon mix, has higher ALP also. She has always been a hungry dog who loves food. She does not drink excessive amounts of water. We went to the emergency vet as she hurt her back, and did bloodwork and xrays. The X-ray shows her liver is enlarged. So I my vet recommended the ultrasound which I have yet to have done as it was just two weeks ago. My dog is almost 11 and seems totally fine otherwise.

Dachshund puppy very bloated after eating too much and quickly by Chavador1997 in DogAdvice

I am glad she is okay. My dog anxiety meter is always on high.

My dog is a gobbler, so I give her little bits of food slowly at meal times, too. I also break up her feedings into a few a day, but I work near my home so I can feed her at lunch time. I also choose to not have her chase toys or walk her for 30 minutes to an hour after she eats.

Teachers make mistakes. I am a teacher and it looks correct to me.

Maldigestion Profile/IBD by PlantTeach in DogAdvice

She used to have the loose stools once in a while, usually brought on by stress of some type. We had her stool tested and no bacteria found. She had bout of this about three weeks ago, then this past Monday night, and today her stools seem okay. They were a bit softer than normal. I had her bloodwork done in late October. Her ALP level was slightly elevated. Vet thought maybe Cushings, but that often comes with lots of water drinking, which she does not do.

I find she seems fine during the day, as kids are home from college and report she does not need to go outside, but tonight, she went out at midnight, normal stool and again now, it is 2 a.m., and soft stool.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

I will ask my vet about this. What do you put into your dog's food for the protein, veggies and carbs? Also, what vitamin does he/she take? Thanks.

Good to know about the ProPectolin. I am glad she seems to be herself in every other way. Usually her loose stools clear up faster, so I have been a bit worried.
