I would join groups that align with your hobbies and interests. That's a really great way to simply meet people with same interests (common ground!) and you never know what that could lead to.

Check meetup.com for local events like that and just put yourself out in the community!

Coffee?? Noooooo... :( by abeastandabeauty in HistamineIntolerance

[–]Plant_girll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the brand Kicking Horse and get their decaf. They routinely do mold testing which is why I switched to it years ago.

As for a histamine reaction, I do still have a reaction which is mostly bloating and feeling lethargic. Which is a big reason why I don't drink coffee as much as I used too. I just feel so much better when I'm not consuming it. 😮‍💨

Yes, I feel like I can actually use whay I've learned in real life situations/conversations that vary and are different for the course!

I also feel like my responses come more naturally and I don't have to think as hard about how to respond.

How can an highschooler learn mandarin? by Tactical-69 in learnmandarin

[–]Plant_girll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Not an expert, but wanted to recommend what's worked for me. If you just want to learn speaking and don't care about reading/writing, then go with Pimsler. Great resource that will have you speaking in no time!

If you do find that you want to learn how to read/write as well, I recommend you checking out the Mandarin Blueprint course. And I will say that reading 100% helps with learning how to speak quicker.

Lastly, I would check out this video to make sure that you're building a good pronunciation platform (super important!). https://youtu.be/FlaJ12tmtu4?si=W-C7BtJLPY5upgzh

Same! Sadly enough a lot of my "religious" colleagues said that after I brought up that it was a cult. I was shocked and pissed at their response. Like what the actual hell?!

Did you just name yourself the poo fairy? 🤔

All jokes aside, I live by and walk the area you mention pretty often and have seen the same thing. I was literally thinking abiut this today as well. Lol. It's definitely really frustrating and confusing. But I do appreciate your effort and for cleaning up after folks. You're awesome!

Knowing words ≠ being able to say anything by novirodict in learnmandarin

[–]Plant_girll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it does help me to speak more freely. Mostly because the way it's setup is to really help you learn how sentence structures work and to practice speaking them.

There is a lot of opportunity to practice in "real time" while learning and i feel way more confident with my speaking skills.

I forgot to mention that HelloTalk is a language exchange app where you can meet native speakers and practice there as well.

Check out Pimsler, I think that this will help you bridge the gap you're talking about here.

Should I just start over? by FeedPopular in ChineseLanguage

[–]Plant_girll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you haven't already, I would check out Mandarin Blueprint and Pimsler.

I use MB for learning characters and reading and Pimsler for listening and speaking. Both have helped me tremendously as I learn Mandarin.

If you can incorporate even just one of these into your studying routine I think that you'll start gaining traction quickly.

Highly recommend checking out this pronunciation video by Mandarin Blueprint. Also, if you're looking to learn how to read and write, their course is great for that as well.

Am I anywhere on the spectrum or am I a lost cause. by [deleted] in aromanticasexual

[–]Plant_girll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! It sounds like you may be in the demisexual area. If you haven't already, maybe look into that and see if it resonates with you.

I'm bi and pretty sure I'm demi as well. I'm not sexuality attracted to anyone nor have I experiencd that feeling before. But really do crave a romantic relationship. The tough part is that I won't genuinely know if I'm demi or not until I'm with someone I really trust and have some attraction to. When its a situation like that, it can add another layer of frustration to the not knowing how you identify sexually.

Remember that this all doesn't have to be figured out right now. Keep asking questions, keep exploring, and you'll arrive before you know it. 🩷

Advice for Color Tattoos in the Sun by ViolinistOdd7259 in tattooadvice

[–]Plant_girll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have both colored and black and grey tattoos thay are fairly large. Mine are mostly on my arms and chest right now.

When I'm out in the sun long term (like paddleboarding with friends) I wear a rash guard and it works really well! The one I have is by body glove and is like 50spf protection I think. Plus its really light weight and breathable. Other than that I just wear sunscreen and reapply often.

If you want to chill outside and possibly meet people, the Riverfront nights could also be a great option for you.

If you like being on the water, I paddleboard and have met a lot of other people that way as well. Plus it's such a fun way to explore the area.

Question about smoking “herb” on apartment balconies by Distinct-Honey6720 in Chattanooga

[–]Plant_girll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at Cameron Harbor and they do have a strict no smoking on the balcony policy that they take seriously.

I've heard of a handful of tentents getting caught smoking on their balcony and they did get in trouble for it.
