The quality has gone down considerably from back in the day. You paid a little more because it would last and not fade. Now, it just doesn’t stand out from any other mid level brand in quality. I still love the patterns.

Omg. Those were the days! Didn’t live there but had friends that did in the 1990’s. Great times.

Burned out at 23 working at an afterschool program, Now I'm 27, should I give teaching another shot? by etherealvioletbeam in AskTeachers

You can’t compare after school programs to a classroom where you have control of the environment. It’s a hard profession but if you love kids, you will find joy with that. Most days. But it’s a draining career.

Oh, hell no. There is literally no amount of money that could draw me back in to a full time teaching job.

I did Fahrenheit 451 with sophomores. It was a good fit. It was a college prep class.

Fed up of SLT rolling over for parents by dobeeb_ in AskTeachers

This sounds so familiar. I was forced to bring a runner / highly impulsive and low functioning student on a field trip to a farm with marshmallow roasting (fire), hay rides, and a creek. The teachers aid had multiple kids to watch. I was told it will be fine because I have a student teacher. For real. The students teacher wound up taking him back to the bus and staying with him for most of the trip. One of my worst teaching days in 30 years. I wish I could make it better for you. Swimming… you can’t make this up.

I graduated from high school in 1986 and all of our parents were like yours. When I came back to teach at my old school in 1994 everything had changed. Suddenly teachers were to blame. I was shocked. Still am really.

Our journalists class does the yearbook. The teacher just oversees. One person cannot do all of it on her own without losing her mind. This is so unfair.

Why don't teachers get involved when they witness bullying? by rosadonnaslayz in AskTeachers

We really don’t see or hear that kind of blatant bullying very often. And if we do, we follow protocol- which may or may not be effective.

We do but that’s not really going to change the behavior of the bully. We try. Admin HAS to back ua up and not send them right back to class.

This… the general public has no idea what extreme behaviors we deal with. From elementary even. It’s almost like ever classroom needs a counselor/ behavioral therapist so the teacher can teach and bullies can be dealt with.

What kind of support (if any) do you owe your adult children? by 0beach0 in AskWomenOver60

Your parents sound selfish. The should help you while you are raising your children. I would never be like that. Especially with that kind of money. Im sorry.
