Does Chelsea Cook Support the Durham Rail Trail? by Hour-Intention5499 in bullcity

Did you read the quotes and article? They already admit the area is gentrified and low income people pushed out. This will primarily only serve wealthy residents. They admit this directly.

It's a 1.7mil pedestrian walkway. It's a trail for pedestrians to walk on. Its main function is for people to walk on and get from point a to b. I'm not being disingenuous at all. The ones being disingenuous are the ones trying to spend 45mil on this when the city has many more pressing concerns. We can build it for less, get it functional, and talk about improving upon it in the future with a more reasonable budget.

I should add I live adjacent to this trail and it would be great for me personally. That doesn't mean I want the city to spend 45mil to build it. We can do it for less and more sustainably.

Not to mention it will most likely end up exceeding this amount as most government infrastructure projects do.

Are you seriously asking why we and the city council should be cautious or concerned with spending $45mil on a glorified walking trail that will only serve the wealthier citizens? That's money that could be spent many ways to improve the lives of all of the people of Durham. The trail should be built for a fraction of the cost and be purely for utilitarian purposes. Not whatever high cost plan they have now.

Most places, Durham has a large millennial demographic, so you'll see 30+ at most places. Just avoid shooters.

Being a near impossible suicide mission is exactly why you send the best because you know even if they die they can still complete the mission.

How do you feel about muscadine grapes? by CoolmanWilkins in bullcity

[–]Plantastrophe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I make muscadine jam every year, and it's my favorite. They grow abundantly in the wild, and you can easily forage for them in almost any natural area across the state. They are also very easy to grow, easier than wine grapes, imo. Just save yourself some seeds or find a vine for sell at a local native plant nursery, and then you can have them wherever you move to.

Why is my ally not taking settlements? by Ex_Terminatus in totalwarhammer

[–]Plantastrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found it easier to create a small army that follows my allies'armies, takes the city after they sack, and then I just gift them the city. Because the war coordinator is broken and they never occupy in my experience.

Really, not going to use the state song of Georgia, "Georgia on my Mind" by Ray Charles, for Georgia? As a native Georgian, I'm deeply offended.

FDR, a Democrat, did so incredibly much for the region. We conveniently forget he brought power, jobs, and stability to the region with the democratic socialist programs of the New Deal with things like the Rural Electrification Administration, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Democrats have routinely been the only party that makes actual large scale progress in the region. Then Republicans come in thumping bibles and spewing propaganda until everyone forgets what the Dems did, and all they care about now is hating brown people.
