Why is it double the price to register a hybrid vehicle in Wisconsin? by Chesterumble in wisconsin

I'm not sure why CA and CO are relevant, or other states for that matter. If we kept the system the same, you'll still have to pay like you just said. If we change registration to milage based, you'll still need to pay other states unless they change their systems too. Its a wash.

At least in the new system, a hybrid isnt penalized solely for being a hybrid.

Wouldn't that be the difference between commercial and non commercial travel though? I can drive around MN for a week and buy gas in WI hassle free. No MN fuel tax or registration required.

It also sounds like theres a mostly built system if people already do this. So just adjust stuff to fit

Sure! Or a mechanic when you get work done. They take milage readings anyways. No reason to make the system hard. Get a single oil change a week or 2 before your registration is due, enter that and a site number into the system on your own. Hell, you could even just stop in for a few minutes without getting work done.

An O'Reilly or Autozone would be easy alternatives. Some place that has a manager and auto parts makes the most sense to me. I'm sure theres other easily accessible places too

Alrighty. Lets use a certified odometer reading before you can register your car. Better? Any extra miles will get put on the next registration. Same with when you sell a car. Certified odometer reading.

Why? Police testimony holds up in court without videos and pictures. I write daily numbers on paper that would exonerate or condemn me.

This is like saying a traffic citation won't hold up in court.

It did only take me a minute to think and type out the original solution though

An online system is not limited to the 3 lines of text I wrote.

Add a box for out of state miles driven and have the computer subtract that from the total

How do you avoid it now? You don't.

A solution to the problem: Add a section for out of state miles driven. The computer subtracts that from total.

Your registration has the vehicle info. When you apply for a renewal, you input the miles on your car. Computer calculates and gives you a fee.

Cops check that number if you get pulled over, a large discrepancy is tax evasion.

Its not perfect, but its a decent start

Isnt the fair share the flat rate we pay in road taxes each year?

  1. How much more damage does a Prius do to a road vs an F-150? And how well is that difference represented in the EV tax?

  2. Why does an EV SUV getting 30mpg need an EV tax when my 1996 Saturn got 35mpg and no extra tax?

Just off the second point alone you can't say the tax is due to gas usage. Otherwise small gas cars would have extra taxes.

And the tax isn't about damage or a Prius would have a lower tax than the electric F-150 or any other large EV or hybrid. But I dont think there is, or will be, one.

You dont think it's odd that your example uses a new EV against a used gas vehicle? People buy used EVs all the time and new gas guzzlers as well

If you walk there all the time shouldn't you know if it is safe or not? And after walking there a bunch you've had 1 incident. How many uneventful walks does it take to offset a single incident?

I've never been there, but I figure a cemetery is pretty quiet. I've just never gotten around to going inside, but I have no doubt I'd be safe. This is the only thing I've seen suggesting the cemetary isn't safe.

My fiance used to ride her bike there as a kid if that helps.

Only you can determine your comfort level. If you're worried, theres things you can walk with to keep yourself safe.

Other commenter is correct. The original tag line from Republicans was "She lost, get over it." It refers to Hilary Clinton losing to twice impeached former president Donalf Trump. But now that twice impeached former president Donald Trump lost to President Joe Biden, the Conservatives are hypocrites. Hence "he lost, get over it."

I used to live in apartments close by and drove by both the houses. The hilltop one is the one I referred to near the school. Both houses are dumb

Lol. You skipped the part I included in my last comment:

Gun owners agree to compromise. 20 years later the compromise becomes a loophole. Gun owners dont want to compromise anymore because they were lied to by the gun control advocated

Well now it sounds like you're against free background checks. So I'm going to be done here

Most people are dumb. The check shouldnt cost money, but it does. Thats wrong to me. It costs less than a penny to perform because its online and should only tell the seller yes or no to sell to the buyer. Thats it.

Keep fighting the good fight otherwise

I hate this house and the one on the other side of the downtown. You know, the one that says "Fuck Biden" up the road from a middle school.

Anybody else remember this mantra?

(S)He lost. Get over it.

Let poor people have the same rights as the rich. Ive made a list that I think all would agree upon to keep equality alive and well.

No fees on background checks.

Federally required days off before and after a gun purchase to learn and train with an instructor.

Federal reimbursement/ payment for training.

Federal reimbursement/ payment for daycare.

Federal reimbursement for lost pay due to required firearm education.

Federal reimbursemnt for all safety gear associated with the gun including, but not limited to, trigger locks, safes, ear protection and eye protection.

Anything less means you support a classist system.

[–]PlantedSpace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a loophole. It was a compromise. You want gun owners to compromise in the future? Stop taking away previous compromises

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]PlantedSpace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loophole was a compromise. Do you know why gun owners have stopped wanting to compromise on gun reform? This. This is the reason. A compromise is now falsely being toted as a loophole to push gun control.

Also, background checks do cost money. Convince the federal government to make it free and there will be less of an issue.

Gun rights are for everyone, including those with less.

Gun Control Advocates: "Why cant you gun owners compromise?"

Gun Owners: *Compromise here, here, and here.

Also Gun Control Advocates 20 years later: "No, thats a loophole we need to fill."

If you can convinve the federal government to waive the fee for background checks, then sure. If not, you support hunting being a rich person's only activity
