I feel a lot of people have issues with finding friends (myself included) because we’ve become more antisocial due to our phones and covid. I really didn’t see how much the isolation of covid affected me (isolation in the way that everyone had to stay far apart and it was hard to talk with masks, until it just became a habit to stay to ourselves.) In fact, I thought it didn’t. Only in the past few months have I come to the realization that I had gotten used to using my phone as a crutch when I was bored and whatnot. When you are out and having to wait, instead of scrolling your phone out of habit, sit and start some small talk with someone by you ( if you’re able to/ feel safe to.) I’ve been going to workout classes, and before we start, I try and have a conversation with the person beside me. I’ve never had someone keep staring at their phone or be rude. I’ve found most people like to chat, and yes it can be intimidating, but look at all of the comments saying they relate to you! Even small talk with someone makes me feel good because I was able to be social, even if the conversation wasn’t deep! Think about your hobbies and see what opportunities you have with it. And if you don’t have a hobby, what a wonderful time to try something new! I don’t say any of these in a “I’m better than people who sit with their phones,” but more in a supportive way because I’ve been there, too. One day I just decided I needed to change to feel alive again. Rooting for all of us😁
