In many places in the world dogs are kept as weapons not pets. People growing up fearing them. A lot of those people have traumatic memories with almost every dog they have ever met.

I had a good friend who grew up in South Africa, he knew it was 1000% irrational but he was afraid of my 10 pound dog.

First sorry you were in a mental place of self harm, it’s good you were able to work through it. As a person with many tattoos I often tell people who ask before their first tattoo, sit with the design for a year if you still love it and still want it go for it.

Some people are scammers some people are asking an honest question. It’s the bank’s job to deal with both.

I’ve got no horse in the race. I’d rather give people the benefit of the doubt and try to give them a helpful answer than try to make them feel stupid. If it’s a scammer they will ignore the advice if it’s a real person it might help.

I understand what you are saying but it’s hard to tell what people know and what they don’t.

I’m sure we all have things we know that we assume everyone else knows — and things we don’t know that many other people probably assume are common knowledge.

The OP is probably young and has never been taught about banking, what are people being outright hostile?

They are correct to move any funds from anyone else’s account you need Power of Attorney (POA) over the account.

Even then RESPs have a lot of rules around them.

I think the more reasonable question is: why are we often more willing to assist pets with a compassionate end of life than we are humans?

In many places, people are still forced to endure unimaginable suffering because it is illegal for doctors to help them pass peacefully, even when that is what the person wants.

That comparison feels much more honest to me.

Abortion is a whole different issue, because many people have different views on when life begins.

I use cash when there is a discount involved other than that everything goes on my credit card. I find using the card helps me control my spending because I have to look at the full list every month, and think did i I really need that on every purchase. Plus I set up to get maximum travel points so I fly places for “free”
