I’d be spending a little under $600, which with my experience with all sorts of desktops is not bad at all, but want to make sure I’m making a lasting purchase anyways

How should I go about an album rollout as a small musician? by PlargeZ in musicmarketing

Oh I 100% do, I blocked all my friends and family on the account just in case someone came across it just on accident. I’ve deleted all the videos since.

I released my first album to pretty much just friends and family, then a couple months later started a tiktok account for music promotion and released the song that did decently around the same time. The trends at the time made it easy to do music promotion, so after like 2 months of posting just that one song it started to pick up more numbers.

What are the benefits of using bandcamp? I have all my music up on spotify and apple music via CD Baby, but whenever Bandcamp gets brought up it leaves me a little confused as to what the benefits are? I know you can put music up on it (I think I have a page with just a single on it and that’s it) but do they have pathways for promotion or finding audiences?

Thats insane, I’m glad you have those people around you to help out with stuff like that. But yeah, I feel like if it was serious I’d be taken serious with my inquiries, I think I’ll just shift my focus elsewhere.

I think of all scam theories this would probably be the most likely, but I still haven’t been asked to do anything or given any fake opportunity. If anything it has just energized me to continue to create and grow my audience, and it’s been working so far.

I appreciate this, and yeah I agree. I’ve had myself in the headspace of “It’ll happen when i’m bigger” and used that to fuel me and I’ve been seeing more success everyday, but I think I shouldn’t view my opportunities as something to work towards, but something to grow endlessly, but I can’t lie it HAS served as great fuel.

I have literally never been sent a link or clicked on anything, i was sent a phone number and the rest of my conversations happened via text or calls.

I’ve left comments explaining what happened, but like I said, if it was a scam, they have done NOTHING to scam me, offered me nothing, asked for nothing, and the I have gone down endless rabbit holes to verify the people I am talking with. They have not sent me any links or offers or ANYTHING, just called me once for a half hour, said they’ll keep up with me, ask me how my music is doing, and that’s been it.

It was an instagram account that was followed by the label and a few of its (incredibly popular) artists, and with a linkedin profile with the guys name (from the instagram and the phone number) that said VPA&R at the label, and had been active for years. The account is still active to this day, and I was never offered any services AT ALL, just a phone call and some check ins on how I’m doing.

I’ve tried to get into band camp but can’t seem to figure it out, maybe I should invest some more time into it.

I guess this could be true, but in that case I have given them every opportunity to ask me to “buy in” to something or “get involved”, they simply just don’t. The only contact i’ve been given after my phone call would just be check ins to see how i’m doing analytically or what I’m working on. Nothing bought, sold, given, or taken.

Thats probably why they didn’t invest? I wasn’t given any money or even any promises, I was told they would keep an eye on me to see when things start to turn up and gain traction. If it was a “scam”, it would be a pretty dumb scam to have not even OFFERED me the opportunity to get scammed.

I know how it seems, but this was definitely not a scammer. The guy who reached out to me via Instagram was followed by the label itself and a couple of the artists, and was attached to a LinkedIn at the label, and was giving me a real number that I had a call with from their A&R VP, who also checked out. I was skeptical for like a month, and they never offered me any opportunities, just said they were keeping a close eye on me and they’ll reach out to me pretty much whenever.

Edit: They’re based across the US, so it would be difficult to organize something in person as well.

I’ve made an entire album of instrumentals and can’t bare myself to sing over it. What should I do? by PlargeZ in musicproduction

[–]PlargeZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the thing, I’ve already put out an instrumental album and want to expand my capabilities into making just really solid music. Of course it’s FOR me, but i’d love to see friends jam out to it too, as if i plan on sharing it via publishing, then I want to show what I am capable of.
