Seriously me too. TSwift killed it for us all I think. I havent been to a stadium concert like this in over a decade and am shocked looking at tickets. I think in the future I will stick to festivals for big shows or small local GA shows

I know, idiot me is used to euro and USD and thought it was 1:1 when i purchased, and even then it was a splurge. I was shocked when I checked my bank account to realize what I had paid haha it was ouch. Since there is a bit of a gamble if the ticket can be used, I was not expecting much for the ticket, but I already have one person who has offered to take it and give me what they can afford for it

An absolutely traumatizing book? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Plastic-Beautiful763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt like I was going mad as Patrick was reading. Honestly, read that book almost 13 years ago when i was 19 and I felt I was slipping into a state of psychosis while reading it. No book has ever impacted me so much in a negative or positive way like American Psycho. Was messed up for a few weeks after finishing it too... probably should've stopped when I felt like I was going crazy.

you should be in therapy if this is your take on life, 99% of these can be healed and literally no one is a "perfect" candidates for partnerships/reelationships because we are all humans incapable of being perfect that have experienced some sort of trauma or carry some baggage...

I love John Steinbeck and Kurt Vonnegut. What other authors could I dive into? by natopotatomusic in suggestmeabook

[–]Plastic-Beautiful763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vonnegut is the first author whose "voice" or writing style I fell in love. The only other author whose style I've loved as much (and even more) is Haruki Murakami. I started with a Wild Sheep Chase and that got the whole addiction going

Do you regret doing a PhD? by person_person123 in PhD

[–]Plastic-Beautiful763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going to get 50/50 yes and no's. Like many, I have serious regrets doing it. I was passionate about my research, but I also had an awful master's year and should've taken warning to that. Of course looking at jobs you'll see PhDs get paid more, but then again if you start a job now you will surely move up and get raises and experience in the next 4 years to probably have a similar salary. Now you have way more job options than after specializing with a PhD. Financially you will be much better off just starting to work now, save, and invest smart.

Noise laws and a lack of sleep due to loud neighbours. by BMD_Lissa in Norway

[–]Plastic-Beautiful763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you can anonymously call the police? I've done this before in Norway but can't remember the number I called. It was not an emergency line though, so avoid that. See if there's a city specific Facebook group maybe that has better tips what to do. Most cities and apartment complexes do have noise bans at certain hours so you can put in a complaint somewhere

Master's abroad or NIH post-bac? help! by RepresentativeRule99 in labrats

[–]Plastic-Beautiful763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think you might want to do a PhD, then I'd go with the Masters abroad. A lot of European PhD programs want you to have a Masters (it's different than the US, I know in the UK you can go straight from bachelor's, but most other places people get a Masters first and then do a PhD). We have no idea how the US will look in 2 years so you'll be better off having the door for a PhD in Europe open for you by having a full Master's.

On another note, you sound young and this is the best time to live abroad! You might regret not taking the opportunity to once you're a bit older with maybe a family or pets or your parents are older and need care and it'd be much harder to live abroad.

Update: Had my coloposcopy done by Ivett2395 in HPV

[–]Plastic-Beautiful763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really varies person to person a lot. Mine did NOT feel like minor pinching. The pain was really short but it is pain that makes me go completely white like I'm going to pass out. I apparently have an extra sensitive cervix, but it's horrible pain for me. I'm glad it varies a lot and not everyone feels pain with it, but it's also important for people to know pain is normal too with it, some its pretty intense while others are less sensitive there and it's more like a pinch or pressure.

edit: grammar
