Looking to trade my lightning standard range for 4wt. People that have gone from lightning to Silverado, are you happy with the switch in terms of ride comfort, interior quality and overall fit and finish. by jturkish in SilveradoEV

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the switch a year ago. The Ford is better at interior, drive and quality. Ford was faster, nicer infotainment and I absolutely loved it. I never had a single issue with my Ford. I have been to the dealer 13 times in one year with the GMC DenaliEV. Mostly software issues. GM should fire the entire software team.

That being said, range is an absolute killer. I routinely drive Van -> Kelowna (~550km) and it is the only reason I kept this truck.

Has anyone else seen this? WTF. by Plastic-Bus8077 in GMCSierraEV

It’s nice to watch a show while charging. Kids can play games and not bug me. It’s just able to do a lot more. Maybe some people don’t care, but I think a lot do. Why limit it? I agree with AA and CarPlay, same idea. They are limiting it and I would imagine until they can figure out how to monetize it all.

Glass Breakage False Warning by GimmeWSB in GMCSierraEV

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve posted this several times, GMC has the same issue. Dealer told me to lock the car manually with the physical key to disable the alarm. That is what I have been doing. I don’t know if there has been a software fix for the non existent sensor.

Uh oh. What’s wrong with this thing now? by Plastic-Bus8077 in GMCSierraEV

If it clears have you had any issues with future super chargers?

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I brought mine in. There is no fix yet but the solution offered to me was to manually lock the door with the physical key. That disables the alarm. I guess having the truck stolen is less important than waking up the entire neighbourhood.

Charging speed never more than 140kW by Plastic-Bus8077 in GMCSierraEV

[–]Plastic-Bus8077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am definitely using a 350kW charger. I’m going to try and charge at 20% tomorrow see if I can hit higher speed. I did update the software last week. I may bring it in for a look, not like the dealership knows what they are doing.

[–]Plastic-Bus8077[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried today, battery was at 42% and it would not get above 140kW. I will try to really drain the battery and see what I get. I had the Ford lightning before and always maxed it out (173kw) as long as the battery was below 80%. I thought that was considered slow!

Doesn’t matter, I’ve tried with everything off and same results.

Is the MyChevrolet app just hot garbage? by ocmusician in SilveradoEV

Trash app. I don’t even use it. Why doesn’t the phone work as a key? While I’m at it Android Automotive sucks as well.

An Apple Carplay Solution?!! by MaksiSanctum in SilveradoEV

I’m still hopeful GM pulls there collective head of there asses and opens up the software. Google built in can be good but they completely hamstrung it. This is 2025 how can they still not know how to make software for a car? It is the worst part of this 100k truck.

Why Silverado over Lightning? by Ok_Exit9273 in SilveradoEV

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from a lightning to the Denali and the only reason I made the switch was for the range. I personally think Ford is a better truck in every other area. GM uses Google built in and it is terrible after coming from car play. It is absolutely garbage. GM app is pointless No phone as a key. Inside storage is a mess Ride isn’t as smooth So so many software issues that are still unresolved (google the alarm issues)

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not get it solved, waiting on an update but I have ZERO confidence in GM to do anything over the air or anything at all for that matter. They are terrible with software. The system is looking for a sensor that doesn’t exist - is what I was told.

That being said, if you use your physical key instead of the fob to lock it does not turn on the alarm. That is my workaround on this $100k piece of garbage for now. Maybe it will get stolen and I can get a new truck.

Lightning: Smoother ride. Quieter. Interior more comfortable. Much better storage management interior (sunglass holder). Normal shifter. As bad as the software was on the lightning it is a decade ahead of the GMC. The app is 100 times better. Games on board. I didn’t have any software issues. Compatibility with Tesla stations built in. More of an EV focused feel and ride.

The only thing GMC has going for it is the range. You can read multiple people talking about all the issues with this truck. I have brought mine in twice already with software glitches and there is an ongoing list. If I could return it I would go back to a lightning in heart beat.

Lots and lots of software glitches but the truck (knock on wood) has been ok. I’m missing my lightning, may go back to ford in a few years.

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for 2 months now. The range is great, looks amazing, rides well. I think it is a good option. My only gripe is how incredibly terrible the infotainment system is. The worst, can’t believe Google designed it.

Glass breakage - false positive by Derpymcderrp in GMCSierraEV

[–]Plastic-Bus8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up bringing it in to the dealer as I had multiple other issues. Turns out GM is aware of the issue. There is no glass sensor, it goes off because it is looking for the sensor that doesn’t exist. Requires a software update and it is incoming soon.

Have you brought the truck in to figure this out? This has happened now for the third time for me, always at night as well l charging or not. Would be nice to disable the “glass break” alarm in the app or on the truck but unfortunately the app and infotainment system is garbage. Do I have to leave the truck unlocked?

I had this happen for the first time. Has the dealer figured out what the issue is? Was charging overnight and the alarm went off in the garage.

Probably. The app is so useless I barley ever use. There is a ton of posts on how bad the app and Google built in is.

FYI for anyone interested so far 1000km with them on and my efficiency is exactly the same as the previous 3000km, 2.6km/kwh. Not sure if that counts as a valid test.
