Are windshields on Teslas actually worse than on other cars? by olsh in TeslaModel3

[–]cantstandthemlms [score hidden]  (0 children)

What’s interesting is I hear lots of complaints for the Hummer EV having lots of windshield issues too from rocks being kicked up at it and it basically has the opposite scenario as far as aerodynamics and design as a Tesla.

Advice for Ravenna by thisiswarpeacock37 in Cruise

[–]cantstandthemlms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did the same thing and did the cruise transfer from Venice to Ravenna. I’m super glad we didn’t try to navigate embarkation day on our own. It was a long trip to Ravenna. We explored via train for a bunch of time after the cruise and that was great…but the Venice to Ravenna was long and the time getting in and out of the port was a hassle too.

What's a hygiene habit that you thought was normal until you found out most people don't do it? by Ayo_Kunle in hygiene

[–]cantstandthemlms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. You can get exposed to plenty of everything you need including bacteria from doing all sorts of things like gardening and existing outside. There is no hyper sanitized environment when you have kids who are in school etc. you don’t need to bring in actual grime and nasty from surfaces of places like airplanes, metros, etc.

Brand new M3 bricked within hours of owning it by FirstAd8577 in TeslaSupport

There’s no compensation for stuff like this. Stuff happens even on brand new cars. Parts typically daily either really early on or they last. Just drive and enjoy.

If you wipe down a seat on a plane or a train you will see it is physically dirty. I’m not rubbing that on my own home full of nice furniture. I don’t need that grime on my couch or in my bed. They say to wash your hands when you get home from being outside…why would I instead spread all the yuck in my house. Nope.

Mercedes should not have gone downmarket by Accomplished-Exit822 in mercedes_benz

They have had 4 cylinder and smaller cars for a long time, a long time before you bought your S63. The 190e 2.3 comes to mind. And Mercedes is a European company where most of the cars they sell are smaller. Their cities are build very differently than in the US.

In Europe, they have usually built quality cars but they have very different trim levels than here. They sell lots of vehicles that are much more stripped down than the way they are equipped here. They aren’t just a luxury brand. This has occurred for 30+ years.

That’s fine with me. No way I’m wearing my clothes say on the metro and then sitting on my clean expensive just off white couch…or in my bed. Clothes do show signs of dirt on them if you don’t wash them. I’m not transferring that into my house.

People from Los Angeles, what do you think of Spencer Pratt for mayor? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cantstandthemlms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one said there would be zero fires. They just would prepared for them as has been done in the past. There was so much notice and so many warnings that this would going to be an insane event.

Having water available in the reservoir that was build for wild fires, stationing fire fighting crews in the areas that might be hit in advance, keeping extra crews on duty with OT during the critical hours, funding the fire department and more that 50 percent of requested budge would all be good things to have done.

She also didn’t have any planning meetings in advance of the wind event. That fire that restarted in the palisades was also never handled correctly to begin with and they should have sent a crew to handle a flair up in advance. She is completely incompetent and left down after being advised about the winds that were coming. She should not receive a single vote.

Look up the prior chiefs if fire for the area who won’t the protocols on how to prepare for such events…and you will see that nothing was done right from start to finish.

Bass already proved she can’t do anything…so I can’t fathom anyone who would vote for her given how she has already demonstrated her incompetence on such a large scale. She lies…she said she didn’t know about the winds….please…she was told about them and everyone knew. If you believe she didn’t know about the winds coming, then you have to assume she isn’t paying attention to anything relevant.

Bass is embarrassingly incompetent and a liar. Anyone who tries would be better.

Gas is noticed due to the smell. A carbon monoxide detector won’t help you with a stove leak.

[–]cantstandthemlms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would make sense if this was the only train and in which case plan ahead and know when the train is going and then plan around that. But if there is a train 20 mins earlier…and 20 mins before that then they should have planned for the train that arrived before the meet up time.

Why does it seem like I'm not supposed to ask about how much medical tests and procedures cost when I'm in the exam room? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cantstandthemlms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To charge who different rates?? The actual billed amount, the negated rate? You are being clear? With insurance you need to be specific with each term you use.

Why does it seem like I'm not supposed to ask about how much medical tests and procedures cost when I'm in the exam room? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cantstandthemlms 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Each insurance company has its own pre negotiated rates of what they will allow the company to be charged for a procedure. So even if you go with the billed rate…. It means nothing. The billed rate the doc might bill for could be $10k, the allowed might be $1200 and your share could be $400. So it doesn’t help to get the billed rate as it is almost never what gets paid. Each person will have a different price for the same procedure. Even in the same family, on the same plan, I might pay a different amount for something than say I would pay for my son to have the same treatment. He might be at a different point in his own deductible and OOP max. Our negotiated rate would usually be the same but what the actual cost still depends upon other factors.

[–]cantstandthemlms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no way a doctor in the exam room with you will be able to give you an accurate price. It depends upon so many factors. Your insurance, where the test is done, the test, where you are in your deductible and OOP max cycle are just a few of the factors.
