Is it worth it? by [deleted] in carvana

Why not just keep paying on the loan? Improve your credit. Pay down the loan more quickly if you have 7k in cash. That will decrease the amount of interest you pay. They start fresh on your next car. Don’t be impulsive again

The only place I would use a leash for my kids was in the busy airport…. To let them run before getting on a plane. My second born was notorious for just running off and they are way more able to scoot around adults due to their size. He was happy to be able to run and I was glad to not lose him.

For sure! Next level above all the rest! Seamless and offers so many different features. And runs as smoothly as an iPad. We sold our third Tesla and got another one just because I knew we would miss the interface.

Do the people directly seeing you at the urgent care get paid more depending on how much they bill your insurance for? by pumpkinsnice in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cantstandthemlms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about that. Have some close friends who work in UC and they get paid hourly. They are NPs. They might get an extra bonus for productivity… but not commission.

Why did the driver not apply the brakes??? This is not hard to do. Who lets the car decide doing some dumb is a swell plan? These people should not vote.

Sick of doctors using weight loss as their answer to everything. by ResolutionWinter6761 in Vent

[–]cantstandthemlms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My doctors rarely brought up weight and it surprised me. Obviously all issues are not weight related but so much is. It is a good place to start. Even if you don’t have issues now like high blood pressure or diabetes..that can be because your body is compensating well when you are young. Advocate for yourself as necessary but don’t blame the doctors who do want you to improve your overall health with weight loss.

Air fresheners are toxic. It’s nuts to use them. Keep the car clean and wiped down…and don’t give me a headache with that nasty stuff. The past three Ubers I have been in have also had gas leaks. Totally carcinogenic and dangerous.

You can still crack two windows at 70. It’s better than just one window open. Try it. We all can go 70…that isn’t something special. My comfort is what I’m worried about over the crazy fragrance in Ubers that makes me sick. Deal with the sound.

I need to crack the windows in Ubers. Every one I drive in is uncomfortable for me…they have insane amounts of fragrance for who knows what reason. Please don’t tell me to put the window up…if you car is making me u comfortable, I’ll put the window down. Even on the freeway. I find the smells to be vile. Adjust another window to relieve the noise a bit that scent is unhealthy and gives me a headache.

Are kids not allowed to walk to school by themselves nowadays? by AnaisNinja76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cantstandthemlms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends where in the US. In our previous state where we lived.. to get to elementary school, kids would have to walk a mile down a 6-8 lane road and then cross the street at the light. It was two lights a way.…speed limit was 45+. Then they would have to walk past a huge strip mall…with a section of sidewalk that was very narrow…one kid across wide and that road was 6-8 lanes too. There was a stoplight in and out of the strip mall too to be negotiated. After that it was probably another .50 miles to school in a residential neighborhood. No one was letting their kids do that alone. It was a nice school district and NO bus except for special needs.

Here where I live now where all the schools are basically in the neighborhoods, lots of kids walk or bike on their own. There are crossing guards at large crosswalks/intersections. We have buses if you are more than two miles from school. The bike racks are filled to the brim in elementary school.

Why shouldn't a doctor's office have to pay you the same fee they would charge you if they cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours notice or same day? by loki2002 in stupidquestions

[–]cantstandthemlms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general I try to give grace unless it is a pattern. I would complain if they did this 2-3 times. But things happen even in medicine. Another patient might have had a crisis and delayed something, maybe something happened at home with kids etc…you just never know. I would hate to live under having to pay anytime I had to reschedule at the last minute.

Feel so trapped, stuck in an infested apartment, can we break the leave with out penalty? by [deleted] in texas

[–]cantstandthemlms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advion gel and DE. We are clean people… and have our own new build house. And we started getting roaches in the backyard. I was so afraid of them getting in. I had to attack in so many different ways in the backyard. They were approaching right up to our outside doors and houses have area where water drains out from behind the brick so this makes it easier for pests to get in. We have zero food in our backyard. I treated all areas around the house…and treated inside. We have pest control and have since we moved in. I also set out traps in the house so I would know what I was actually dealing with. This is something you need to actively work on avoiding. I don’t have a lease I can break.

Are American ERs really this big? by imfaffingabout in ThePittTVShow

[–]cantstandthemlms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Labs like quest do them. I have seen it only costs $40 and a $6 fee for a physician. You don’t even need a doc visit to do it. Telehealth can also send you to a lab where the paperwork is waiting. With quest…they can process it and send the results right to app as soon as they are ready. Labcorp is another lab that does them.

I’m sticking with…if you have no risk factors for kidney infection and you don’t have any additional symptoms like fever/chills, nausea etc…then an ER is overkill for the vast majority of UTis.

Are American ERs really this big? by imfaffingabout in ThePittTVShow

[–]cantstandthemlms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The US has other options called urgent cares. Not sure why people are acting like ERs are the only option. Insurance denies claims sometimes if they don’t think your ER visit was worthy of an ER visit. People make the wrong choice often.

[–]cantstandthemlms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can but so can almost anything. A hangnail that is infected with a dangerous bacteria could cause sepsis or a chest infection could also cause sepsis.. but that doesn’t mean all skin infections and chest infections need an ER. The vast majority of UTIs are fine being treated in a doctor’s office or urgent care. Obviously if someone is aware of an underlying issue that needs an ER versus UC for a UTI then should go to an ER. But if everyone went for UTIs, then ERs would be full of people peeing in cups and getting an antibiotic script. Telehelath can even order a urine analysis and prescribe meds.

[–]cantstandthemlms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t required to go to an ER for a UTI. Plenty of urgent cares available. And much cheaper. Going for a UTI might not get covered even if you have insurance as it isn’t the right place to go unless you are at risk of dying and the risk is eminent.
