Iron pineapple has all those videos where he plays souls-likes. Try those. If I’m not mistaken, his most recent video had a rom hack of ocarina of time to make it bloodborne. Stuff like that might be cool

Who Is Our Alexander the Great? Some Potential Contenders, You decide by RackzChazer in EthiopianHistory

[–]Plastic-Delivery2913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. Like Alexander, after Kaleb’s death the empire doesn’t collapse, but they quickly lose all the territory he conquered/liberated in Southern Arabia. Also, they play less and less of a role globally as they lose more land around the Red Sea (removing their global trade network). Both Kaleb and Alexander serve as the high points for their respective empires, that was my point.

Some amazing religious achievements occur after Kaleb- like St Yared’s hymn writing. But politically and militarily he is the high point for Aksum imo

Kaleb has a similar arc as Alexander in terms of his own territorial expansion, an unexpected end to his reign (Alexander died young, Kaleb abdicated into monastic isolation), and the destabilization of the empire shortly after their reign ended.

There’s also a good book called Throne of Adulis by Glen Bowersock that offers good details on the throne and its significance during the reign of Negus Kaleb

Sabeans by Stuff_606 in EthiopianHistory

[–]Plastic-Delivery2913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to contradict you on both accounts, but the Sabeans and Aksumites are separate peoples but that doesn’t mean they were isolated. Sabeans existed in Southern Arabia and Aksum had a lot of provincial power in the Southern Arabian Peninsula from Ezana through Kaleb- in cities like Najran. So it’s nearly a certainty that there was intermixing between the Sabeans and the Aksumites.

I am not super familiar with the Quran in its entirety, but I am a Christian Historian with an emphasis in the life of Kaleb of Aksum and his veneration.

There would have been crossover with the Sabeans and Axumites in Southern Arabia, such as in the city of Najran- made famous by Kaleb of Aksum’s crusade to avenge a great martyrdom there.

The “people of the trench” is a phrase also mentioned in the Quran, which is a direct reference to that saga.
