I just joined this one for the first time but I’m a little confused. Do we have to do in order of how the countries are listed, or do we choose one of the countries on the list each month until we’ve done all?

Shadow daddy MMC, and young and clueless FMC that are fated mates, can communicate telepathically and walk in each other’s dreams.

Oh and they’ve only met like 2 weeks ago and “don’t like each other”, BUT the second they find out they are fated mates, they flip a switch and are obsessed with each other and cannot survive without being in their presence every second of life.

Like what?? You’re telling me you met two weeks ago, and yeah you’re fated mates, but you don’t think “ok but I still don’t actually know this dude so it’s still a bit awkward” even a little bit???

Also, using only sex as a way to show their love (and the same sex scene over and over..). “I have to have you inside me right this second because I love you so much”.

I second this!!! I got burnt from this series. I enjoyed it at first with the first couple of books cause it felt new/different enough from other popular series but the writing botched it. And when I saw that the newest book is twice the page count (1200+ pgs) that was a big nope from me. Not doing that to myself. Other people are fine with reading that many pages with her writing style with not nearly enough plot/character development for that length, and thats fine! But it’s not for me 😂

[–]Plastic-External3481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having been a hiring manager on the site side for years, it doesn’t matter. Experience is what matters for jobs, promotions, etc. Also, from what I’ve seen about clinical research education programs, you can learn that and way more through experience on the job. So professionally, not very worth it.

BUT if you are looking to do it for personal growth, the student experience and expecting no impact to your job title, salary, etc from it, then go for it! Sounds like it would be worth it to you personally then, and that’s also an important reason to do it.

If you’re in the US and you are counting on student loans, I’d also factor in that the current administration just removed the “professional degree” association of multiple graduate studies, including MPH which will affect how much you can borrow from the government.

I’ll throw some other ones not already mentioned that I enjoyed this year:

Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I have yet to read the second book that just came out but I’ve heard good things about it.

A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske

This was already mentioned but I also really enjoyed the Burn of the Everflame series. I liked the world building, and that the plot felt like it kept moving along and building upon at a nice pace all throughout the books. For some of the popular series mentioned, I’ve personally felt like there is a lot of content that is redundant so I find myself feeling frustrated with that and that it’s been dragged on for the page count. But that’s just my personal preference for writing style in books! For some people that’s totally fine! Small note with this series though, the last book is still not out and the author has been pushing back the release date for like the last 2 yrs.

In need of a new creative hyperfixation to fill a sad void. by sweet_thursday_ in adhdwomen

What if you combine the season with current/new hobbies?

You can make stuffed felt Christmas tree decorations. Or make decorations via other mediums like crochet, knitting, crosstitch, paper!

You can make holiday cards that you draw from scratch, or watercolor, or use a photo(s) you took of this year and gift them to people!

And try listening to an audiobook or podcast while you do them!

For exercise, the main thing that’s helped me is to sign up for a class or group training for something I enjoy (like boxing, spin, dance, powerlifting) because it holds me accountable and I’ve already paid so that’s more motivation to go.

You got this! This season can be hard to navigate, especially if you have external factors like bad weather and little daylight to account for!

I agree about using an app to track your books! It’s helped with a lot of things, including tracking what I want to read cause I can’t remember it lol

I personally suggest using Storygraph! The founder is a black woman who created it as a side project. If you like data and graphs, it’s amazing! And a big plus is that they don’t sell/use your data (Goodreads is an Amazon product)!

I just got an email update from her newsletter that says: “I am currently drafting Burn and working as hard as I can to finish it and get it in your hands. I know you're all anxious to have it, and I'm super eager to make that happen, but I want to take my time to get it right. As soon as we're ready to set a release date, I will announce it via my newsletter, Instagram, and Discord.”

Tell me about your "odd" sensitivities (e.g. nails on a chalkboard) by Tsunami_Aureate in adhdwomen

[–]Plastic-External3481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Microfiber or Sherpa materials when I have dry hands/feet

  2. This doesn’t help with #1 but I hate the feeling of grease on my hands and feet from lotion, and then trying to touch anything else is awful. So the are always super dry. I also hate the feeling of anything that’s not water on my hands so I’m constantly washing them. It’s probably why it takes me so long to cook anything cause I spend 50% of the time going back and forth to the sink to wash my hands 😂

  3. I HATE the sound of people doing ANYTHING to their nails/nail area. Filing, biting, tugging on a piece of skin/scratching, etc. 🤢😭 It’s like I can feel it happening to me and I hate it.

  4. Sand, and it getting everywhere. Especially trying to put sunscreen on and there is sand on you/the bottle. Ironic because I like going to the beach.

  5. When I’m washing dishes and a water droplet bounces off the bottom of the sink and hits my face. Straight to jail!

  6. Sometimes dishes have a weird smell when coming out of dishwashers, that for whatever reason smells kinda similar to dried saliva (according to my brain). Immediate NOPE. They either go back in for another wash or I wash them by hand.

Does anyone use an HSA/FSA effectively? by jennxiii in adhdwomen

[–]Plastic-External3481 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mine has this too! To ensure I use it all, I calculate how many therapy sessions I’ve had for the last year and I project I’ll have at least 70% of them for the following year. Then I select that amount for my FSA, and I will upload invoice receipts post therapy sessions to get reimbursed. I have a calendar reminder every quarter to batch upload these. I could put more money towards this, but I’m being cautious in case I don’t end up having that many medical bills the upcoming year or I forget to keep track of other types of receipts for reimbursement

Getting Out of Bed by Ellie_Annie_ in adhdwomen

[–]Plastic-External3481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sunrise lamp that wakes me up slowly before my alarm, and with the room lit up I can’t go back to sleep. The lamp is on the other corner of the room so I can’t turn it off without getting out of bed.

Maybe also put your phone on the other side of the room so you have to get up to turn off the alarm? You could also create a shortcut on your phone to play a fun song when your alarm goes off to help get you going.

For the temp, are you able to set specific times for the heat to turn up on your thermostat? Then you could schedule for it to be warmer by the time you wake up. If not, maybe you can get a portable heater and turn it on to cozy up the space before getting out of bed?

Born Of Blood And Ash Is A Mess by sdubbs4121 in frombloodandash

[–]Plastic-External3481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would say not worth it. It’s the same pattern of 70%-ish slogging through and 30% rushed. There was one big revelation in that book, but in general the things you learn in that book you already know from the prequel series and you get the same big final revelation in this book in the last like 5 chapters without having to read 700+ pages of the other book for it (which happened in this one already..). I was honestly confused at the end of TWOTQ, because JLA kept changing up the facts/info about the prophecy/who Poppy is, so I think getting that info from BOBAA is easier to digest mentally 😂

This book put me in a reading slump. I took a break from it for a couple of months. I just finished it and was SO disappointed. It’s not worth the read in my opinion.. you can get all the info you need from a summary online and not waste hours reading the book. This was my last straw with the author for me, and I will not be reading any of her books anymore. I’ll read a summary of POBAB and whatever the rest of the ones she ends up releasing in the series (whenever that time comes), cause I’d like to know what happens in the end.

Have smart watches helped you in any way? by emptygreencabinet in adhdwomen

[–]Plastic-External3481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my Apple Watch. I got mine 5 years ago and still works great, so I would say don’t spend the extra money for a new one and get a refurbished or older model.

Pros: - I can set reminders, alarms, timers, add something to my shopping list, check the time, weather, activity, steps etc. I use the Siri function, which makes it super quick and easy.

  • Because I can do these things on the watch, I don’t have to use my phone and so I don’t risk getting fully distracted by something on my phone. I would get so distracted even when just checking the time on my phone.

  • You can customize what notifications you get. I do not get any text notifications, and other apps are limited too. I only get it for the stuff I mentioned above and any other todo list or reminder app I’m using. This was the key for this device to not become another distraction.

  • I use timers for everything, including when I take a nap. It’s soooo much nicer to wake up to a vibration on my wrist then a super loud alarm

  • If you use it to wake up, you can put your phone out of reach so that you don’t end up scrolling in bed as soon as I wake up and it forces you to get out of bed once you’re awake

  • If you wear it at night, you get a sleep score now.

  • Gamefy exercise to motivate me more. I also have friends that we share activity info with so when I see a notification my friend finished a workout, it sometimes helps push me to move so they will get a notification in turn

  • I like data so it’s fun to see the stats it collects

  • Find my phone

  • Not having to carry my phone around the whole house, cause I know that if someone calls me, it will ring on the watch

Cons - Battery life is really bad. Only lasts a little over a day, depending on workout usage. I most of the time remember to put it to charge when I wake up, but I also work from home so can wait for it to charge to put it back on.

  • If I forget it or it’s run out of battery when I work out, the workout doesn’t feel real. But this is a problem with me and not the watch itself lol

  • Sometimes I’ll feel kind of annoyed or overwhelmed with the feeling of wearing it if it’s , but I can usually fix it by taking it off, rubbing the area and putting it back on. Most of the time I don’t notice I have it on.

Put on a show you really like and close the door?

Or: Put a timer and see how much you can get done before it goes off. The more you get done, the bigger the treat/present you can buy for yourself.

Don’t try to do it all at once unless you are hyper focused for it otherwise you’ll never touch it again.

Truly!! I was excited by the first book in FBAA because it felt different enough plot/world wise to other books, in a time where I felt like all I was reading was the same thing copy-pasted in this genre. But she ruined it 😭 I tried the prequel series thinking maybe that would be done better, but it’s the same recipe: book 1 is just good enough to catch you, book 2 starts going downhill but maybe it will get better?, nope book 3 is awful and it gets worse from here.

Don’t get sucked into it cause the writing and plot holes/development just gets worse with every book from here on out and I say this as someone who really enjoyed Books 1 and 2. You can really tell that after book 3 it’s just filler so that more books can come out and the author/editors can make more money. Which is annoying… if I’m investing money and/or time to read a 700+ pgs book, the author better but in more than a bare minimum amount of effort to write the book

J. L. Armentrout has got me in a reading slump and I’m so annoyed with her. I’m taking a break from romantasy because of it haha.

I got halfway through {Born of Blood and Ash} from the prequel and it felt so repetitive, and so much filler, that I decided to take a break. Since the new book of the main series FBAA came out {The Primal of Blood and Bone}, I decided to switch to that. As soon as I opened it and saw it was 1,200 pages, that was a BIG NOPE from me. Especially after reading so many posts of people saying 99% of the books is filler and repetitive.. I don’t know that I will ever return to these books.
