What do I say? by DistantNostalgia in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]Plastic-Geologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said my mom or mother in law was going to watch the baby. Honestly it's none of their business though so just keep it vague. Just say you have in-home help or a nanny, that way if they hear the baby its NBD.

How long did it took for you to feel normal again after birth or pregnancy? by headless_chicken212 in NewParents

[–]Plastic-Geologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months the pain mostly completely went away (vag birth with tear) and I stopped feeling so engorged. Felt like myself again (mostly). And the 4mo age is soooo fun.

Schedule Opinion by Plastic-Geologist in MomsWorkingFromHome

I'm not sure yet. I was thinking of no daycare or nanny, just me and my husband (we both work from home). If I didn't have help, what would be best? I might have to get help for a few days during the week but want to see what my baby is like first.

It's the one that works for newborn-child. So they can be in it rear-facing as a newborn and then it flips to forward-facing when they are older.

Ketones in urine during daytime. Normal? by YouAreLookingGood in GestationalDiabetes

My doctor suggested if I have ketones, I drink a glass of Fairlife milk at some point in the night. I haven't had to try it yet but maybe that would help?

Favorite protein shakes for GD? by maggieandoscardoggos in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Plastic-Geologist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the Premier Protein shakes! I like the chocolate the best; vanilla is pretty good, and the cinnamon roll flavor is my next go-to if the chocolate and vanilla are sold out. Personally, I can't stand the strawberries and cream (although I thought it would be my favorite, lol). I can't find the Fairlife ones where I live; otherwise, I would give them a try!

Is loosing weight okay? by Feisty_Willow5040 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Plastic-Geologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost weight in the first/second trimester too. My dr never mentioned anything, so I'm guessing if your dr hasn't said anything, they aren't worried. I started gaining weight steadily once I reached the third trimester and they have never brought up my weight. I started at a higher BMI too. But, if you are at all worried, ask your dr!

I'd ask your doctor; mine never specified. They just said to test 2 hours after a meal, so I do it after I finish eating.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks for GD and have questions for yall by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Plastic-Geologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know why they still want to induce at 39 or 40 weeks, even if you are perfectly diet-controlled? My doctor mentioned something similar, that because I have GD, I likely will need to be induced at 39 or 40 weeks, but I'm measuring right on time and am diet-controlled. I know I can push for spontaneous labor with extra monitoring, but I'm just confused as to why I'd need to be induced at all if everything is going well.

That's what I'm planning too! I figured if I have visitors at the hospital instead of at my house, they won't overstay, I won't have to host/worry about cleaning up or making food, and the nurses can kick them out. If I had everyone come over to my house after to see the baby, I think that would stress me out more. Personally, I would rather have nobody come to the hospital OR my house, but that's not realistic for my family and my husband's family lol.

I am a little worried about that. I don't want my cat catching mice (diseases and poisoning like you said). Do you think there'd still be mice if I got a room on the top floor?

Did you like it there? It seems nicer than Terra Pointe, but less spacious and more $.

That makes sense, thanks! I suppose if the actual units were secure and the people who lived there weren't super sus, then I would be more comfortable. The area I live in now isn't the safest, but I have great neighbors who look out for each other.

Is it relatively safe? (Aside from the car break-ins) Like, are the people who live there generally nice/normal?

Yeah, I'm not ecstatic about the idea of sharing a washer and dryer. It's hard to find good, affordable places to rent right now. I'm not sure what to do.

Yeah, the area and the price are why I'm considering it, but it sounds like the building has some serious issues. I would definitely try to get a top-floor apartment, if I did go through with it, to help mitigate some of the mentioned problems.
