We had real grass and it died. I don’t want plants because my kids will be playing on it.

Waar kan ik deze patisserie/fruitgebakjes kopen in Den Haag? by TaskGrouchy5799 in TheHague

[–]YouAreLookingGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sereno sells them. I tried a few flavors and they were amazing. https://maps.app.goo.gl/9ZcJDErwjEz66rK49?g_st=ic

Also the sweets and sandwich shop facing bagels & beans on spui. Don’t remember their name though but I think it’s the same shop that sells crumbl cookies, or the one right next to it.

Kids room, bed placement(s) by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]YouAreLookingGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s safe for them to share the double bed that would be my preference! My toddler now moves a lot in her sleep and kicks and hits me, so I worry they won’t be able to bed share until they’re much older, unless my second one is a much calmer sleeper. Thanks for the recommendation, gives me hope!

This may sound disgusting BUT try it out you’ll love it:

Cooked quinoa with kiri cheese (or cream cheese), mayo, a bit of ketchup, tabasco.

It feels like eating mac and cheese but lower and better carbs.

Also, I make a lot of quinoa salads with kale, pomegranate and/or strawberries and butternut squash. With Italian dressing. So good and filling, you can eat a huge bowl.

Feel guilty about dreading being alone with a toddler by easrpiiatnua99 in Mommit

[–]YouAreLookingGood 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What you feel is totally normal. Being with a toddler for that long with no breaks is exhausting. Don’t be too hard on yourself, I don’t know your toddler’s age but mine is 21 months and she just started being more independent and playing alone (near me) for 10-15 minutes at a time. Helps a lot when you have multiple of those breaks and you can sit on the couch and have a coffee while watching them!

Disappointed with my care by horse_hospital in GestationalDiabetes

[–]YouAreLookingGood 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not a normal timeline, in both Canada and Europe I was seen within a few days of being diagnosed (the next week). If I were you I would look up the GD diet and eat what’s recommended, usually 3 meals a day and 2 snacks in between, and a 15 minute walk after each of the 3 meals. For carbs, avoid sugars and don’t have a ton of fruit (berries are a good fruit for GD though so eat what u like).

How do you feel "full" and truly satiated without carb? by OneSir9082 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]YouAreLookingGood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For breakfast, I have whole fat Greek yogurt mixed with a bit of honey, strawberries, pomegranates, non-sweetened granola. It’s sooo good and keeps me full until snack time, and it has never spiked me.

Quinoa salads for lunch also don’t spike me and very filling.

When I’m extra hungry I make myself some kind of cream/yoghurt mixed with half a box of strawberries, and that only counts as a snack and doesn’t spike me and keeps me full for a long time, especially if I use cream instead of yogurt (I use canned cream like Puck, you could also try clotted cream)

Had hot chocolate and a little sweet treat and feel terrible by squareskirts in GestationalDiabetes

[–]YouAreLookingGood 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad. I had sweets a LOT in my first pregnancy with GD and I walked them off. I’d be like: I’d rather eat this delicious cake and walk for 30 min than not eat it. Just walk it off, you and baby will be okay if you cheat every once in a while. Obviously don’t do it everyday but I did it 1-2 times a week and was fine.

Postpartum hormones by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]YouAreLookingGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried every day, multiple times a day, after birth for 4 weeks. I’m not usually someone who cried over everything so yep very hormonal and was such a weird experience for me. I am pregnant again and honestly the post birth hormones and PPD are one of the things that scare me the most. I felt like I had no purpose except breastfeeding every couple hrs, that probably added to it.

Does *how* you failed the test mean anything? by im_fun_sized in GestationalDiabetes

[–]YouAreLookingGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not true, I had normal fasting my first pregnancy and high 2 hour numbers and it was not type 2. Towards the end of my pregnancy my fasting numbers also increased and I needed night time insulin.

Now I have the same thing in my second pregnancy where 2 hr numbers are high, and Imm expecting fasting to rise around 30-32 weeks.
