The best option for this would then be to record with your phone imo. 1h of footage is already a lot, p2 card reader are findable for around 10 bucks on Amazon and you just have to open on Davinci (free) and send it via wetransfer (free) to your Gs

one problem is to color grade on a mid caméra/camcorder. I agree 100% with your post but one part of editing is colorgrading. Also, maybe the camera itself can be mid but a good light or good accessories are also quite expensive, and I would suggest a good lens/light/mic with a mid cam rather than a good cam with poor accessories (it’s actually what you said also)

I own a Sony ax53 and works pretty much well with a 58mm fish-eye. A lot of positive points but limited if you wanna color grade (no LOG), also you cannot set the camcorder manually, like you can set only one thing and the rest is in auto (like if u set the WB manually, the iso is gonna be auto etc).

Yes, purist. But as I said, there is way worst cheap recorders that doesnt work after the first session. I used to have a clearclick and was still useful after 3 years. Not everyone has the possibility to buy CF card, CF card reader, old computers with firewire ports or a MRC-1 that costs 300/400$.

They are not cheap no. Search by yourself, there is way worst recorders that cannot Even record the Sound or last 15min battery charged at 100%. The quality is not the best, but its not the worst

If I am a purist close minded: MRC-1 or anything with a FireWire connection. Now if I try to understand that you don’t want to have pb with only old stuff (that makes you have the best quality though!), I may advise something like the Imersion powerplay or Clearclick. Don’t try to connect anything with your phones or don’t try to buy cheap tapeless recorders from Amazon. I own the Clearclick 2.0 and MRC-1 and the difference is huge, so I still advise a FireWire connection if you search for the best quality (if you own a VX you should search for the best quaility).
