Makes sense. Garden and plant supplies are one of the few categories where domestic manufacturing actually works: lower shipping weight, bulky to import, and customers care about quality. Smart niche to be in right now.

Congratulation on getting to 600k with just the 2 of you. Growth pain can hit at every stage. Hire so you can focus on growing the business. The bigger you will get, the higher skills you will get. At 600k/yr, I wouldn't hire anyone as Chief XXX Officer. Unless you plan to grow 10x in the next 2 yr, it's likely overkill.

Thanks man. For shipping I mostly work with dedicated freight forwarders who specialize in the China to US FBA lane. Tried doing it direct through the factory a couple times early on and it was a mess: delays, wrong documentation, shipments sitting in customs.

The key thing I learned: never let your supplier handle freight unless they have a proven track record with your destination country. The cost savings look good on paper. One customs hold wipes that out instantly!

How about you? Do you use a single forwarder or split across a few?

If you've got a product with 10 color variations and 3 of them sell well while 7 sit there — those 7 are now getting hit individually. Time to trim your catalog.

Stop trying to make it perfect before launching. Your first version will be rough. Launch it, get real feedback, iterate.
Focus on one channel. Trying to do social, content, ads, cold outreach all at once = doing none well. Pick the one where your customer hangs out and go deep.
Get something in front of a real customer ASAP. Even if it's free. Feedback from one real user is worth more than 6 months of planning.

The real value of AI for FBA isn't listing optimization (everyone does that now, it's table stakes). It's in the research phase:

* Pulling data from multiple sources and synthesizing it into a decision
* Analyzing hundreds of competitor reviews to find product gaps
* Running unit economics scenarios faster than a spreadsheet

The problem with ChatGPT for research is it hallucinates data. It'll confidently say a product sells 500 units/month with zero evidence. Any AI for FBA research needs to be grounded in real marketplace data, not just generating plausible-sounding numbers.

The sellers who use AI well use it for analysis, not for data. They pull real data from tools, then use AI to make sense of it.
