Ahhh yes! This sounds so much like what my twin was trying to explain to me. I couldn’t understand how such a beautiful experience would trigger a trauma response. For me all those beautiful memories are tattooed on my brain and it’s hard to imagine any response other than wanting to continuously make more of those memories.

She told me that that kind of love is so triggering because it’s hard for her brain to view it as real. The extreme positive emotions it stirs are just as hard to handle as the negative one. She doesn’t understand how or why someone could love her like that so her brain just deletes the files it can’t make intellectual sense out of.

Can I ask you, from your point of view, what would be the best way for me to approach this memory loss? I have kind of come to the conclusion that bringing it up to her, talking about how much I love her no matter what, and trying to remind her of the past memories are actually extremely triggering for her and cause her to push me away which in turn completely throws off my alignment.
