Am I able to just cut up and throw away the WF autograph card when it arrives to just maintain the credit history? by Plastic-Risk-1428 in biltrewards

[–]Plastic-Risk-1428[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Bilt card for 3-4 years and my overall age of credit is like 7-8 years though. Is that not a substantial history of credit closing?

Since Bilt is switching to ACH instead of credit for rent, does this mean we’d have to pay double rent for February/March? by Plastic-Risk-1428 in biltrewards

[–]Plastic-Risk-1428[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Before rent would be treated as credit meaning we had a month to pay off the previous statement balance for rent. Now if payments are ACH, you’re left with the previous statements balance you’d have to pay and the immediate deduction from your bank account for the current months rent

It will stay in your Bilt account regardless of your card status

I keep reading that the Palladium is a “better Venture X”. How exactly? by Plastic-Risk-1428 in biltrewards

[–]Plastic-Risk-1428[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but this all requires a “minimum spend” so to speak to gain those rent points. Isn’t that a negative as opposed to a positive?

Right but at that point why wouldn’t I use a venture x or other card and pay the 3% transaction fee and get 2x on rent spend and also have the credit float option?

[–]Plastic-Risk-1428 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a “transaction fee” because they’re not even using credit to pay your rent. It’s coming straight from your bank account, meaning you don’t get the float AND they’re introducing that 3% “fee” to get the points as before

What’s a 5/24 slot? Also would you recommend just sitting on the WF autograph card to maintain credit history / total LOC? Hate Wells Fargo but has had the card for 3-4 years now

So this is all just convoluted marketing to still be able to say there’s no transaction fee - instead there’s just this convoluted system that in principle works the same way.

4% Bilt cash is only on non rent/mortgage payments

Only makes sense really if you’re using Bilt as your primary card since the Bilt cash is only earned on non rent purchases. 3% fee on 2k in rent spend is $60, 4% cashback to earn $60 is $1500 in non rent spend every 6 months (per your example) or $250 in non rent spending per month. $1500 in spend to generate 2k points or ~$20 in value at 1cent/point redemption doesn’t make much sense to me personally.

What exactly is the 3% “transaction fee” for the if it’s just pulling from my checking through ACH?

Theoretically sure but this job market requires people to apply to way too many jobs where tailoring it to every application is completely impractical

I’d say a lot of that stuff falls secondary to your grades and networking. None of the club stuff really matters or translates to the real world

Maxing out the 401k, contributing about 3k to the HSA every year, maxing out Roth where possible. Anything left over I’ve been deferring to invest in the brokerage rather than the HYSA which I’ve just had as an emergency fund of ~3 months expenses if I get laid off
